Would be the perfect time to do it with LA coming up on Saturday. Afternoon game Saturday too so less rest if Picard were to start both games.I wonder if Rodrigue gets the start in net.
I wonder if Rodrigue gets the start in net.
Not surprised Pickard is starting and IMO it's the right call.
The team needs the points. No time to test drive someone who has next to no shot at a playoff game.
Rodrigue should be starting but not surprised by this. Even going back to the Smith and Koskinen days, one guy would be driven into the ground when theres an injury.
I'd let Rodrigue play whatever remaining games are left in the season once the standings can no longer change. Not surprised Pickard is starting and IMO it's the right call.

Points for second place?
Yes. The Kings are 28-4-4 at home and 14-19-5 on the road.
A better record could also mean home ice in some later rounds if we catch Colorado/stay on pace with Eastern teams not called Capitals.

Not the Oiler way. They would rather lose him, see him doing well elsewhere, bring in an older vet and watch him fail here.Rodrigue was third stringer and backup in the COVID season, and had played in the AHL since.
He's paid his dues, giving him a cup of coffee, so he can see where his game needs to go, and we can see what we currently have. If we're going to develop talent in house, you have to take small chances on them once in a while

I was being facetious on how oilers treat younger players- but to your point- the point you make applies to all players taken after the first round-To be fair, how often do goalies not taken in the first round actually take over the starters net for the team that drafted them.
It's quite rare that later goaltending picks peak before joining at least their 2nd or 3rd team.
It's partially why I don't understand the team being so concerned about using late picks on goalies recently when they have minimal draft picks to start with and don't have a particularly successful history of developing goalies with their goaltending coaches.
The weird obsession this board has with cats needs to go away. It’s played out. Let’s pick a different animal out of the hat and run with that for a few years.
Agreed. Let’s at least pick one that people like and doesn’t piss in a tray at the back door. The weird obsession this board has with cats needs to go away. It’s played out. Let’s pick a different animal out of the hat and run with that for a few years.
