I may be wrong, but from my limited viewing of Musty; he seems like the ideal winger for Celebrini.
I don't see any way that both Cagnoni and Dickinson would be on next year's roster. It would be one or the other.Sure, it's an age-old debate.
I'm also not sure if there is space for Dickinson. If you squint, you can see one playing spot available, but if the Sharks make a big acquisition (trade or FA), draft Schaefer, or have a prospect like Thompson/Cagnoni/Furlong make a big jump, there it goes.
You also have to consider that this is probably the last year of "real" tanking; the Sharks will try to be good next year, which means icing the best D-corps possible.
If spite creates points, we need to start mistreating more of our roster.Quentin Musty "f*** this team" revenge tour commences. Points fueled by pure spite.
That's more because of how little forward talent we have than anything else, but yes Smith is a Top 12 forward on the Sharks. There's a much higher chance of Musty being a top-12 forward for the Sharks (next season), right? The standard is lower...it is obvious to me that Smith is one of the top-12 forwards on the Sharks, even if his development may have been served better by getting some AHL games.
I don't see any way that both Cagnoni and Dickinson would be on next year's roster. It would be one or the other.
In my ideal world, the Sharks would get two RHD that are better than Liljegren and push him down to a third pairing, in which case there's no room for a guy like Thompson. If two of our RHD are going to be those guys, we're just gonna have the same bad defense next year as we do this year. We need better RHD to support Walman and whichever young LHD is gonna be on the roster next year (if any).
Space for a young guy to be on a third pairing would depend on how many LHD we move at the deadline to create space for Cagnoni to get some NHL time in the last month.
Anyone who has played for either Sharks team the last few years has been mistreated. If spite creates points, we need to start mistreating more of our roster.
He’s too tall. We should trade him.Make it 2 goals and 2 assists for Musty through a period and a half
Make it 2 goals and 3 assists through two periods
The third assist was miscredited IMO.Make it 2 goals and 2 assists for Musty through a period and a half

Neither Thrun or Mukhamadullin should be considered safe to make the team. The more I think about it, the more I can't see space unless Thrun and/or Mukhamadullin are moved. Right now:
Walman, Liljegren, Ferraro, Thrun, and Mukhamadullin would be safe to make the team, with Vlasic as the #7.
That's a very inexperienced group to dress. They aren't going to fill in that last spot with a rookie. They're going to get another vet (hopefully a good one), so then unless Thrun or Mukhamadullin are moved, there's no space for Cagnoni or Dickinson.
I was honestly only highlight/scoreboard watching. The third assist was miscredited IMO.
Every team needs at least one unstable psycho for peak performance.Ah, the classic Quentin Musty hat trick:
1. Two goals
2. Two assists
3. One incredibly stupid penalty for throwing his broken stick at a referee.
Oh I figured, just thought I should mention.I was honestly only highlight/scoreboard watching.
Yep totally agree. I’m reserving any judgement positive or negative on musty until he’s in the AHL. CHL just feels like too low a level for him.Oh I figured, just thought I should mention.
Typical Musty game. Super talented. 1st PK unit and 2nd PP unit. A few strong back-checks that felt like bare minimum for a guy with NHL aspirations.
I'd like to see him play a full season with the Cuda next year. No shortcuts.
It's exactly as we all predicted. The talent level in the OHL is just too low to challenge Musty and Sudbury isn't an environment that keeps forwards accountable for their own end. He put up four points basically in his sleep today. Sudbury won 10-6 and celebrated about it.Yep totally agree. I’m reserving any judgement positive or negative on musty until he’s in the AHL. If they trade Ferraro, there still will be only one spot where they will play a younger guy regularly, because going into the NHL with 3-4 defensemen with <2 seasons of experience would be a big mistake. They'll have to acquire a replacement for Ferraro...Neither Thrun or Mukhamadullin should be considered safe to make the team.
The question of space will be answered by whether they are ready to move Ferraro at the deadline or not. If they're planning on keeping both Walman and Ferraro on the left side next year, there's only one spot where they can play a younger guy regularly.
He should see some AHL time at the end of this season if he’s healthy, right? It's exactly as we all predicted. I want to see him start in the Cuda's middle-six next year and work his way up. No call-ups until he really and truly Gets It.
I love the player, I still think his upside is crazy. I just don't think he's on the fast track and we should be more patient.
Depends. Sudbury bought at the deadline, so it certainly seems like they're trying to push for a long playoff stretch. I'm not convinced they'll win a single playoff game, though. He should see some AHL time at the end of this season if he’s healthy, right?
Unless the Sharks move a couple forwards and there is space on the Cuda because call ups? Or maybe they dont call anyone up if the Cuda are doing really wellDepends. Also depends on the Cuda, I guess. Sudbury's last regular season game is 3/23, and SJ's is 4/20. If the Cuda are in a tight playoff race, do you want to add a teenage winger who isn't exactly super responsible in his own zone?
Almost certainly call-ups will happen after the 3/3 NHL trade deadline. I think Granlund and Sturm are moved at minimum. Maybe Kunin. I bet Cardwell and one of Bordeleau or Gushchin gets the call, with Graf remaining in the NHL for the rest of the season already. There should theoretically be space for Musty, it's all about what the Sharks want to prioritize.Unless the Sharks move a couple forwards and there is space on the Cuda because call ups? I think that would be fun but no way you risk Celebrini with the extra games as a 18 year oldIf the cuda has a chance this year for a championship, any chance the sharks mark Celebrini, Smith, askarov, graf as part of the playoff roster for the cuda? Since the sharks end the season on the 16th. (barring a miracle 37-0 record for the last half of the season).
I'd say no chance Celebrini or Smith, but absolutely Graf and Askarov will play for the Cuda come playoffs. If the cuda has a chance this year for a championship, any chance the sharks mark Celebrini, Smith, askarov, graf as part of the playoff roster for the cuda? Disgusting. He could have about fifteen points half way through the game. Defense and goaltending optional for both teams today.
