I am an equal opportunity hater. I enjoy watching every team that isn't the Sharks fail and their fanbases suffer. As we hopefully enter a contention window it is also objectively beneficial to the Sharks for potential star prospects on other teams to fizzle out.

Also you really don't think Yakemchuk, who turned 19 before the season started but is producing at basically the same clip as his draft year and wasn't even invited to WJC camp, is close to being a bust? If we had drafted him I would be starting to get very concerned.
Fair enough, hating can be fun.

I don't think Yak is trending bust, no. I think he needs a chance to play at a higher level. I think he'd be in the AHL if there was a reasonable transfer agreement. But you are right... Despite my wanting to be right about him, it's better if he busts.

Related, by the way, I am also discounting Dick's season. Not so much that I think it doesn't matter, and it's great to see he has the skill and confidence to do what he's doing, but I still think that the way he's getting points and playing is a long way from the way we need him to get points and play in the NHL. There's still a huge jump for D from juniors to NHL. Dick didn't look as good in camp and preseason as Yak did - doesn't mean I'd rather have Yak but I don't put a huge amount of stock in the numbers.

I’m calling you CoolBust from now on.
Deserved.

seems kind of f***ed up for a bunch of us adults to be rooting for teenagers to fail, but maybe that’s just me.

Instead, let’s root our rivals to develop into high quality teams who get crushed by Celebrini’s sharks. May their children look upon them with shame, and the only sound be the lamentations of their women, or something.

Seriously though, nothing wrong with hoping celebrini-Dickinson-Chernyshov go 1-2-3 in a 2024 redraft, but please stop hoping for the 17-22 year olds who have dedicated their lives to being NHL players to bust. It’s f***ing weird.

Why stop there? Why not root for the NHL to expand by about 50 teams so everyone who ever plays competitive junior hockey at any level gets to live out their dream of playing in the show?

I like the talent level just fine. Most prospects do bust, and they don’t deserve to make the NHL, because the NHL is really f***ing good. But we shouldn’t be rooting for it.

Hodge, I consistently enjoy your viewpoints. You’ve had some of the most bizarre takes I’ve seen on hfS, and more than a few have proven to be accurate. You also have a confounding ability to stick to your guns some viewpoints until long after they’re proven false. Occasionally, it drives me crazy, but this place wouldn’t be the same without you.

If you’re ever in London, England let me know, I’d love to meet the person who spouts all this crazy shit!

*that actually goes for all of you. Need some sharks buddies in London!

The sooner they fail, the sooner they can realize that hockey isn't for them and move on to a better, more productive, more fulfilling career.

Given his content, he's likely on a no-fly list and couldn't make it...

I’m an adult on hf, clearly I failed to meet my potential- athletic and otherwise. I played (soccer) goalie recently- I was a midfielder, and ended up with a dislocated shoulder (diving save to keep the score a respectable 4-0). Nickname is well earned.
Dude. I played hockey on Tuesday, threw my back out making a routine save. I've been couch-ridden since. Never been so debilitated in my life and that includes knee surgery.

You've seemed extra fiesty lately!

Knee surgery was my worst experience, so nothing but sympathy for ya to find something even worse. Guessing age may play a role- definitely did with me.

Mostly boredom. This is awful. There's no consistency for how I can move so it's like playing Russian roulette whenever I have to get up for anything. I also had to learn how to wipe with my off hand. It's been an adventure.

I reserve hating for guys that make my team suffer, either by being really good on an opposing team that beats my team all the time or by being on my team and being dumb or selfish.

I agree that while Dickenson's numbers are great, I'd much prefer him to be showing growth in the areas that he was weak in with us, but those things rarely show up on highlights and I just don't have the time and patience to watch London Knights games above and beyond everything else on my schedule to keep up with his progress. I am hopeful that his selection to the WJC team means that on balance he's ahead of his contemporaries overall despite the areas of his game that still need more polish, but he needs a challenge and third pairing with the Sharks is about the only way he's gonna get it next year.

Misskey with a goal so far tonight in night 2 of the battle of the Sharks' 2024 5th round d-men. It was a pretty soft goal though. He just sorta flung it at the net like he was trying to just get the puck deep and the goalie whiffed on it.

I'll try to come back if/when there's visual evidence (Victoria's twitter feed is super delays on getting highlights up. They just barely have the first of their 3 goals so far uploaded. Though it's possible their social media person isn't there as teh storm today wrecked travel plans for lots of people including both teams)

Victoria scores 3 unanswered in the 3rd including Misskey into the empty net and we're now like a minute away from a 6-3 Royals win over the Giants. Barring any other scoring Misskey is going to finish with 2 goals and a +1 while Roberts was on the ice for another one and is a team-worst -4 along with his d partner. I don't totally fault Roberts though, he was out there a ton and it seemed like his pairing was tasked with logging the hardest defensive minutes.
