The Nemesis
Semper Tyrannus
Colton Roberts was a -2 with no points tonight as the Giants lost handily to Portland 5-2. The whole Giants team looked like ass for the bulk of the game as they were easily outplayed, but in the 3rd period they finally started getting some PP time after questionable reffing through 2 periods and with the team missing arguably its 2nd best d-man overall and unarguably its 2nd best offensive d-man in 16 year old Ryan Lin, Roberts stepped up and QB'd the power play and actually looked pretty decent at it.
He's not making the pros to be an offensive d-man, but the emergence of Lin had pushed him down the depth chart and taken away his PP time, so it was nice to see he still has that skillset available. His biggest obstacle to improvement now (besides just getting to play meaningful situations as long as undrafted 19yo Mazden Leslie and Lin are the set-in-stone #1 pair) is to clean up his d-zone decision making and start being a little more forceful at shutting guys down especially once play gets deep into the zone.
