So give away Potvin?Islanders got a long way to go before they have anything resembling a dynasty build

Schaefer has the ceiling of Potvin. The next guys in this draft profile to be decent. It’s crazy for the islanders to move their pick.Lets pump the breaks a little
Yep that's exactly what I was implyingSo give away Potvin?
Darche said he’s making the pick unless someone blew him away with an offer. A late 1st in this year and a 2nd isn’t even remotely enough to blow him away. He’s forcing Grier to give up something painful for them to move down.Islanders would be stupid to pass in Schaefer.
I think that guy might actually be Potvin at this point. Just say “good night grampa” and move on.Yep that's exactly what I was implying
Sure, maybe. But you are talking like picking this kid is guaranteeing us a dynasty, which is uh, ridiculous.Schaefer has the ceiling of Potvin. The next guys in this draft profile to be decent. It’s crazy for the islanders to move their pick.
I am trying to spread this gospel to my people. Alas, it is taking a minute to sink in.Mute point because Dickinson is worth #3 in this draft all on his own.
It’s funny how Isles fans have convinced themselves that Schaefer being the consensus #1 overall means that he’s head and shoulders above Misa. That’s simply not the case.
Fantasize about getting Dickinson, Eklund, our 2026 1st, whatever you want. It’s not happening.
There’s always the option of passing on the next Potvin (ceiling of this D man) for a couple guys who profile like Horvat.Sure, maybe. But you are talking like picking this kid is guaranteeing us a dynasty, which is uh, ridiculous.
Again, this is absolutely f***ing horrible for the Sharks. They aren’t giving up #2 and another top-5 pick for Schaefer and a mid 1st.

Going to take more then the 29th or 30th this year as the add in to swap picks. It’s not so much that the Islanders might want a forward, it’s more so that San Jose wants Schaefer for the back end to fit into the core with the high end forward talent. At most, I'd offer the Dallas 1st rounder to swap picks. If the Islanders want Schaefer, there is no reason for them to trade the pick unless they are getting something ridiculous in return. If the Islanders want a forward instead, it shouldn't require much to drop down to #2 and have their pick of forwards.
wildly?! How can I answer that when the draft hasn't happened yet? If you're asking my pre-draft selections I'd easily go Schafer, Misa, Hagens, probably Martone and Desnoyers(wild card boom or bust here). And that is in a weak draft class....your guy might be good but you have a Jeckel and Hyde type of response that's either insightful and concrete or complete bullshit. Your on the bullshit here. But go ahead prove me wrong...offer Dickinson to the top 4 fan bases on the main board for their pick.....Add a poll and prove me wrong maybe I'm out to lunch on my analysis and if so my bad....Who says there’s a significant gap between one and two? Again, Schaefer being consensus #1 is true hut it doesn’t mean there’s a significant gap between him and Misa. The Athletic did a round table with a bunch of prospect writers and they agreed that Schaefer was #1 but that Misa was in the same tier and that the the gap was Misa and the rest of the field.
He is. But I am wildly curious who you from the 2025 draft you would take over him.

Hmm, sounds terrible. Thanks!Islanders and Sharks swap picks.
The condition is that the Islanders get the higher of the two picks next year. No protection.
If the Islanders pick ends up higher than San Jose's, they get nothing. The value is in the additional unprotected shot at #1 next year.
It might. The last time the top pick was traded, it was for a 3rd rounder being swapped for a 2nd rounder and a middle six winger. I don’t think a deal asking for significantly more is going to get agreed upon.Going to take more then the 29th or 30th this year as the add in to swap picks. They could target Utah at 4 and throw barzal straight up for the pick or a combo of horvat+a dman of their choosing a 2nd and a prospectAnd still the Islanders say no. Schaefer is Potvin. Insane to trade that away and say good bye to a dynasty,
