Sounds about right. And 6 years also sounds about what Doug Wilson would feel comfortable giving him in terms of contract length.

Honestly he would be a massive piece of the team going forward if he was to come to Edmonton. But why leave a contender for a maybe?
I would love if he came to Edmonton, but never expected it to happen.

Yup Burns will be 32 years old next March, So a 6 year deal takes him up to 38 years old so that sounds about right.

Guys who want to win like playing with generational players who want to win. New arena. Money. Lots of reasons. There are more reasons for him to re-sign in San Jose though.

Donskoi doesn't need to be protected. And Thornton is mostly a curtesy (since Vegas would have to be moronic to take him and it's not like we have other forwards worth protecting anyway, since our top prospects like Meier and Goldobin are excempt and so is Donskoi).
