All non playoff picks are lottery picks, lotto winners are top 3 in which case I agree,
no team is trading that for Pinto
Lottery winners are top 2 now, and my understanding is the protection doesn't actually trigger unless they actually win the lottery.

That's why you also see protections for Top 5 and Top 10. Why define those positions if you can just say "Lotto protected."

im the one that threw out lottery protected 1st. by that i mean just a 1st that wouldn't be a super high pick. you only need to look back as far a stutzle to see why you should always protect a 1st round pick.

Yeah I misunderstood my bad. I assume any first traded for Pinto would have at least top 10 protection, and possibly top 16, so I assumed that’s what they meant too. No team will be trading a 1st without top 10 protection in almost any case

Ottawa would want a young 3C with lots of 2-way upside and size.

So Pinto. He is what this team needs right now and that is why he will be signed - either to a team friendly 1 year or a better multyear if he insists.

Good Afternoon Kings,

Hopefully everyone is enjoying a nice colelge football saturday

what would it take for the preds to acquire Señor Pinto from Ottawa

How would you fine folks like Cody Glass and Dante Fabbro in return?
Not a chance from the Preds side. Glass is similar enough to Pinto already, and Fabbro is a very solid D who should be back to 1st pair this season, there's no motivation for the Preds to trade for Pinto. The team is already nicely set with young centers, no need to overpay in a trade just to change faces.

Nor will we trade any of our young ELC guys for Pinto. Ottawa can go ahead and waive Joseph or Brannstrom or whoever and find a way to shoe-horn Pinto in under the Cap, they don't have any motivation to trade Pinto either, this isn't the time of year where teams change up their plans yet.

Pinto should get a 2x$2.5M bridge contract, just like Glass did. So in that sense, they are worth mentioning in the same thread, But that's it.

Pinto will get signed....but if the Sens had to trade him, the ask would be more than people fathom

Ottawa wiill want
Yet Ottawa only offered 1 million for Pinto. They lowball him but if they trade him they want something over the moon.

Terrible organization.
What a terrible all around post. You new to negotiations?

They don't want to trade him because it makes no sense and they need him.
