Confirmed with Link: Shakir Mukhamadullin resigned 1x$1m

A 1-year, $1M contract interpretation: MUK +2OA + (X) probably Eklund will be traded to Isle for Sharks to move up and grab Schaefer.

Basically the only deal that made sense for both sides

Would have been nice to get a second year for just $1M, but from Mukhamadullin's perspective he hopes to prove to be worth a lot more by the following season

Glad to avoid any kind of drama

As i was corrected earlier, this would have taken him straight to arbitration. i was in favor of a 2 year as well.

this is the right deal. No way mukh shold get more than 2 years. and no way he should get more than around 1-2 per year. He has proven nothing. he is super injury prone, and has not shown any semblance of sticking in the NHL. He had maybe 10-15 good games. that gets you a 1yr, 1M tryout deal.

If he stays healthy and rocks it, proving himself a top 4D, then he'll get the 5-7 year term and $$. If he is hurt half the year, or stinks, then see yah later.

I like the deal as is.

I hope we sign someone in free agency. I don't want to go through another year of tanking. The Sharks need to make progress.
We're going to suck next year no matter how hard Grier tries to build a winner - we are far, far too far away.

We might not be tanking, but we will suck. Expect a bottom 3 finish.

Yes I know we are going to suck. Can we maybe suck less than the previous years? Is making 30 wins too much to ask?

I do think 30 wins might be on the very optimistic edge of what we might see - not totally surprising, but an absolutely phenomenal improvement in one year for us.

If Grier signs Toews, that should be considered a fireable offense. This team needs defense, so also signing another forward would be dumb, especially when they might get a good one in the Draft.
What if Toews, after travelling to India and meeting with a mind and body guru, decided he would continue his career as a defenseman.

Was hoping for 2-3 years. I assume this is more on Muk than the Sharks. i was hoping for 3x5-6 million or something like that. Even if he doesnt hit his full potential, no way is that handicapping the team on the third pair. Like i said i assume a 2 to 3 year was a possiblity Grier would have entertained, but with how Muk played down the strech, as mentioned betting on himself which sounds silly.. He could get a solid boost in AAV if he can stay healthy and contribute the whole season. Look forward to seeing it. In a world where Dellandra gets 2 years i dont see how Muk cant be offered the same.

I'm sorry, what? Is there any precedent for a player with less than half a season of NHL experience at 23 getting a contract like this?

We all love what we saw from Shak after the Four Nations break but some of you are getting a bit carried away. He needs to prove he can stay healthy and handle top 4 minutes over at least one full season before committing to him as a long term piece.

Off teh top of my head? GMMG gave Thrun 2 years with barely more games than that, while showing a whole lot less than Muk btw. You have a good reason to think he suddenly changed corse in negotiating tactics since then?

3 years? $5-6M AAV? What? I’m as optimistic on Mukh as anyone else, but bro hasn’t survived half a season in the NHL yet. And while he certainly showed some promise, it’s not like he looked so electric that we should consider him a surefire top 4 guy.

And as far as the Thrun/Dellandrea contracts, I’m sure the team would have been fine with a second year for Mukh with similar AAV. At either price, in the absolute worst case they could bury him in the minors for a $300k cap penalty. For all intents and purposes that’s not a penalty.

I’d guess Mukh opted for a single year, with the intent of negotiating next year with the benefit of a full season of NHL play.

I'd much rather have Toews as a 4c than Goodrow or Dellandrea. Provided he can play and wouldn't be deleterious to the room, seems like a good option.
