Shades of 2019 from the Blues?

Their cup winning team was by far the worst team to win a cup in the salary cap era
Yeah, but who cares? There were so many Blues teams that deserved a better fate and their only claim to fame is 1st and 2nd round losers. Finally, we caught a lucky streak. Not gonna apologize for it and gonna cherish it just as much as any other winning fan base. Four teams had a chance to prove you right, and failed.

He’s won at every level of hockey and was a Jamie Benn post in overtime against the Blues in Game 7 from going to the Conference Finals. I understand the butthurt though. We have Monty and you have Joe “Hero” Sacco.
did he win in the cup with the "greatest" regular season team ever that he himself said he barely had to coach? No, he got run in circles by Maurice. Constant lineup changes, not pulling Ullmark in game six when he was clearly injured, not adjusting his breakout or PP entry scheme when the Panthers had clearly figured out how to get the bruins off their game. Almost lucked his way out of that one too (Orlov crossbar in 3rd period and Pasta hitting the knob of bobs stick in OT).

Monty f***ed the Bruins this year, refused to sign an extension because he had one foot out the door for the Blues gig. Ran an disorganized and shit camp, didn't give an ounce of effort to right the beginning of the season and signed with the blues literal hours after being fired by the Bruins (definitely no tampering there).

As for our tank commander Joe Sacco, hes doing a wonderful job stinking up the joint. We love it, we have an outside chance to take Misa now. That's record (losing streak) setting Joe Sacco to you mister butt hurt.

Maybe the Bruins got old and have a shitty prospect pool?

Even if they won their last 8 game (after having already won their previous 8 games), they'd finish with a max of 101 points, they had 99 in the 2018-19 season. They're also generally regarded as the biggest "fluke" Stanley Cup winner in at least the last 20 years. I suppose it's possible but it's not likely.

The 2018-19 Blues made their big push beginning January 23rd with an 11 game win streak through February 19th. They settled into a solid if not particularly notable 13-6-4 end to the season (30/46 possible points) and then won in the Playoffs.
I think that goes to the 8th seeded/16th seeded kings…

Pens-Sabres - Pens go to finals
Red Wings-Hawks - Red Wings go to finals
Flyers-Bruins - Flyers go to finals
Ducks-Kings - Kings win cup 2014
Rangers had two stadium series - Lose finals in 2014
Hawks-Capitals - Hawks win cup 2015
Leafs-Capitals - Caps win cup 2018
Bruins-Hawks - Bruins lose in finals 2019
Preds-Stars - Stars lose in 2020 finals
Flames-Oilers - Oilers lose 2024 cup

Blues played in the Winter Classic...

I swear, this post will mark my words if the Blues appear in the cup finals and for some reason most of the teams that play in outdoor games make the finals that year then nothing will change my mind on the NHL being rigged.

Blues-Panthers finals.

GO JETS GO!

I don't see it, the 2019 team was far deeper than the current blues.

-O'Reilly was a selke 1C
-Pietrangelo 1D with parayko, dunn and Bouwmeester made for a really good defense core
-Binnington was playing Vezina level as a rookie
- Tarasenko was a premier goal scorer

Lots of things don't match, but they are doing well
I think I’d take 2019 as well, but specifically because of ROR and overall defensemen group.

Binnington is a wash - yes, he probably is not going to be able to replicate his play for the end of 2019 leading into the POs, but for the most part there’s no reason he can’t produce like he did in the 2019 POs this year.

The overall wing group this year is more talented than 2019 on the wings, IMO, and is probably the only group I’d outright take over 2019

2019 center depth is hard to challenge.
