Actually the pattern is the last 3 Cup winners all signed or acquired their starting goalie that won them the Cup.

You convienantly don't want to list that. We would have won the Cup in 2006 too if Roloson didn't get hurt and we sure as f*** didn't draft him.
Is that really a pattern when every player in this League is signed and/or acquired?

Its interesting that even Ekholm was being called out by several posters today. The Viking that has come in here and given years of stalwart play and he has one off game and getting the gears. Skinner has 20 despicable games a season and several more in the playoffs and being defended by some in same game. Unreal.

See thats the difference. I don't blame McD, Drai, Ekholm, Hyman because they carry the team every year endlessly. I blame the player that is clearly worst at his position and has been now for 3yrs. I also blame Schwartz for defending this crap and the org trusting his goalie takes. lol
Just look at who calls 97/29 out over game 7 (and Drai was injured beyond belief to the point Katz hugged him behind the scenes before game 7 thanking him for toughing it out). They shit talk the guys who have carried this team and in the playoffs to defend Skinner. Absolutely MINDBOGGLING. They must have a SKinner autographed poster up ont heir ceiling staring down onto the bed

Nice bottle of baby oil or lube on the night stand

So Malkin and Crosby are chokers like McDavid and Drai I guess, Nevermind that McDavid breaks a GREZTKY assist record.

People would rather defend the sieve goalie here about game 7 over McDavid/Drai and shit talk these 2 after what they did all playoffs.

It's honestly batshit insane

Watching Skinner and his athleticism, etc, you have to be clinically insane to be happy going forward with him as an emotionally invested fan. Or just straight up delusional.

They would have 0 Cups with the same goaltending that Connor gets, so yeah I guess so.

Ovechkin is kind of a fraud in that regard too, Holtby had playoff runs with a .940+ save percentage in two straight years and some how got eliminated in the 2nd round, lol.

That's an automatic-Cup with McDavid.

Been saying this for a decade. It is pretty odd. The great players are teh reason any of us watch. The Skinners of the game cause me to lose hair. There aren't two star players in the league who dig down more than McDrai have over the last decade.

I just hope to god our management isn't this defeated mentally

"Welll, who we gunna get!!!?"

'Did you see Stu against Dallas!"

Lets just keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result

There is a word used for that

They're not going to do shit, they're a bunch of phonies.

At least I can take some solace in the fact that this loss probably felt like a swift kick in the nuts to everyone in the Oilers higher up front office ... no doubt they were ready to cluck and strut after it was 4-2 and probably might even have to ask an uncomfortable question about Skinner.

But that's the extent of it. They're too stupid and lazy to actually do anything about it. They'll go get their middling top 4 D and maybe a depth 4C and call it a deadline because it's too hard to do much more.

Except they aren’t doing the same thing over and over and they have been getting different results every year. Improving results actually culminating in being 1 goal away from a Cup.

If they did the same thing this year they wouldn’t have tried to and most likely have improved the scoring depth of this team.

All three of Bouch, Ek, and Nurse (on a breakaway out of the box) stumbled on their own two feet tonight.

Bouchard’s lead directly to a goal on his first shift and his play got worse from there. Between him falling all over himself and fumbling the puck like he was 10 beers into a case and giving it away like he was Santa on Christmas Eve, it was laughable.

Stupid phonies didn’t even sign Hyman and trade for Ekholm. Every year same shit since 1990!!!!!

To be fair the first question although phrased lazily is poignant.

There is not much out there. I’m absolutely struggling to think of a name that fits:

A. Cap wise
B. Is actually better than Skinner or Pickard

Like would Utah entertain offers on Vejmelka? Would Montreal listen on Montembault? Maybe Adams is desperate enough to give up UPL.

They're not going to do anything in net, this is just a lazy organization for that, has been for like 15-20 years at least now.

Why would it change now.

The only way they will ever do anything is if Skinner full on embarrasses them and goes on a tear of being unplayable, but he's just good enough to eek out a few wins and fraud his way into keeping the starting job.

No one's asking for freaking Hasek. We get 1 good game of goaltending in the first 3 games of the Cup Finals, and guess what? You're probably wearing a 2024 Stanley Cup champions shirt with an Oilers logo on it right now.

But hey, hope going cheap in net was worth it. A 2024 Western Conference champions banner and hat is almost as nice, amirite?
Did you know skinner had better numbers than bob in the finals last year?

Yeah you just move on. Just sucks to give up some awful goals all around (some on Stu and some on the team)
“Costly mistakes that shouldn’t happen” - Knoblauchs summation of the game.

Those mistakes will get cleaned up. Easilly correctable. Ain’t nothing you can do but move on and trust that it will. And it will, with this team and this coach it will.

Mike Smith getting the most undeserved rose coloured glasses here.

That guy was every bit as inconsistent as Skinner is. He was terrible during the year and had a great playoff. That’s it.

We bitched on here nonstop about him. “Gotta get schmiddy going” despite Koskinen having a much better SV%.

Listen f*** Skinner, but also f*** Smith.
I'm talking about an aspect of Smith's game that was elite and a defining difference for this team. His puck handling and processing the game was another defenseman out there. Especially against a hard, aggressive forecheck team like Florida. Conversely Skinner is extremely slow and indecisive with his out of net processing and decision making which is further hurt by his well below puck movement. It's a costly weakness.
