Seth Jones with one of the worst giveaways I’ve seen

Every defenseman has giveaways from time to time.

It was a bad play by Jones, but wouldn't have been a goal if the Panthers' other player had turned around to cover Sanderson, instead of heading to the front of the net where another player already had the net front Sen covered. The Panthers had enough players back to cover everyone.

Jones is a minutes muncher, a good player. Is he perfect? No. Is he a hall-of-famer? No, but he would be a good addition to any team.

I recall Ray Bourque having some brutal howlers from time to time. I'm not comparing Jones to Bourque, but just saying that there is no perfect player.

I have no dog in this fight and never really cared for Jones, but this feels like the hyperbole associated with all trade related trash talking. Yes it’s a bad turnover, but if that’s the worst turnover you’ve seen in your life you don’t watch very much hockey. Turnovers always happen, we’d have a much more boring league if they didn’t. Using one turnover to bash a players career, a trade and fan base that won’t submit to your will is……a fascinating insight to human behavior.

Lots of people with big hopes

That's the kind of stuff you see like four times a period int he OHL, but is rare in the NHL. Jones needs to keep his focus more consistently.

Tkachuk’s been injured since 4 Nations, Ekblad has been suspended, Kulikov has been out, and now Barkov and Sturm. But, let’s point at Jones.
Will Tkatchuk be back or is he done for the year?

Been saying before he got drafted that he reminds me so much of Jay Bouwmeester, his career has pretty much mirrored Bouwmeesters.

High draft pick with tons of hype early on in his career, rangy player that can eat a ton of minutes but makes life easy for his opponents with soft defence, moderate offence, overpaid due to his early career hype, etc.

Florida just needs him to be St Louis Bouwmeester so I think it will work out fine

Bouwmeester was actually good ? He had good defensive IQ and could stick check pretty well too.

Better comparison is Darnell Nurse. High draft picks, had high hopes because they matured physically earlier than the competition in junior, but never really developed more beyond that point.

Apart from pre-draft hype, he hasn't really done anything at a high level at the NHL. I think he's a decent 2nd pairing guy, 4-5M you don't mind him.

Just sucks in a cap world, because it's all about production/dollar spent. If we remove his contract, I think every team would love to have him, just makes it tough at 7M.

Nurse plays hard, Jones and Bouwmeester are big and rangy but are very easy to play against. Saying Jones is not good is not true, he peaked in my opinion during the Columbus Toronto series but is still capable of being the #3 on a cup winner same as Bouwmeester was.

Nurse also makes a lot of boneheaded mistakes, Jones obviously can too but not nearly as many. I stick to JBouw, anytime I watch Jones he’s all I can see

Yeah I see Jones as a 3-4 D, which isn't a bad player by any means.

How about this Stutzle cut block at a Panther's knees....that's DIRTY

It’s amazing how we have this era of every last little thing being caught on camera and shared instantly around the globe, and the result is false narratives because people don’t bother to watch carefully before forming an opinion.

Such a strange time to live in.
