He's big with average skills and mediocre hockey IQ.

jones isn’t exactly a high IQ player. Lots of tools, but no tool box. Should be a much more effective player than he actually is.

Toronto fans so obsessed with Jones, pretty hilarious really. Yeah, that was awful, he’s had some mistakes, management’s said it’ll take time to get him fully settled in. He’s had some terrific games and he’s had moments like that.

He was supposed to be on the 2nd pair with Mikkola to learn the system with Ekblad continuing to play on the top pair, Ekblad got suspended which pushed Jones to the top pair and playing more minutes.

But, keep hoping I guess.

Yup. There is usually a high minute D man, who gets a lot of hype, on bad teams. He’s often why the club is losing so much.

Thats not a give away, thats a blunder and freak play at probably worst time to have one.

I see that upon replay, but thats what happens when you lose the benefit of the doubt with the refs from diving.

Although the rep is somewhat earned, his diving is overblown...he's just weak on his skates, as is evident in that clip!

I remember he used to be quite an HF Boards darling (circa 2019) and analytics people never thought very highly of him.

He's a big guy who can skate and log a lot of minutes, but he's never been a particularly intelligent player. I wasn't happy about the trade because I thought he would probably be a solid to good top four defenseman on the Panthers (who have Forsling and Ekblad). Ekblad had to be an idiot and get himself suspended, and I have a feeling he may go to another team in the summer. I don't think having Jones as a top two defenseman will bode well for the Panthers if they want to win again. We'll see if they bring in someone else to replace Ekblad in the event that they do move on from him.
