That's honestly insane for how terrible this team is this season.
Yes it is, but it sorta makes sense.

Jones was leading the team in ice time - 25ish minutes a night - and had a lot of sway in the locker room. It honestly feels like the Hawks were playing to his pace, which is slow as shit, instead of pushing the pace like we should.

He'll do better on a team where he won't have as much influence. Where he needs to adjust to them instead of the other way around. But for us, it's addition by subtraction.

Just a shame this team decided to become more than they were at the start of the season the moment he leaves.

Legitimately Jones was the problem. Like the sample size is getting larger. TJ Brodie looked competent when Jones was out.

I can’t even come up with reasons why, but this team just plays harder now that Jones is gone.
In addition to being a subpar player, he's locker room cancer.

Guarantee the vibes were bad when the assistant captain was complaining nonstop.

Isn’t that damning of our Captain, Nick Foligno, too?
No.

Foligno can't control what Seth does or says. And he can't control how the team feels, especially some of the younger guys who aren't accustomed to being on a team like this. I'm sure he's been doing what he can there, it certainly has sounded like it.

Very few guys in this league have worn the C in multiple different organizations. Don't think we need to worry about Nick's role as captain.

Not like they had many other options either though. It was basically a 2 person race Foligno, Jones. 3 if you want to count Murphy but I don’t think he was a being considered for anything besides an A

I anticipate awkwardness next year when Foligno is still the captain and he'll likely stick on the 4th line because they're going to have more talent up front. Inevitably, he's going to get hurt and miss games at some point and his replacement will probably outplay him by a significant margin. Then when he's ready to come back, we're probably going to lobby to scratch the captain on this board.

Recency bias is absolutely ridiculous here. More than I care to take. Guy was PPG for a 30+ game stretch as a 19 year old until 6 games ago. Nothing has changed about how I see his future based on 6 pointless games, not all of which have been bad.

I’m in the wrong thread I guess.

Chelios on the Score this morning said he thought Seth checked out two years ago.

Also said he liked Del Mastro.
I don't know if anyone caught the pregame yesterday but Colin Fraser was asked about Seth's comments in his first interview as a Panther and it was painfully obvious that he was pretty pissed off about them and felt that Seth did not hold up his end of the bargain while with the Hawks.

Dead on comment:
when you are playing nearly half the game and don't give a shit you are a true tank commander:

With SJ in the lineup this season: 42 games total - Hawks Record is 12 - 25 - 5 (.69 points per game)
With SJ out of the lineup (injury/post trade) - 20 games 8-9-3 (.95 points per game).

If you look at that as a full season - you would see a 21 point improvement (78 vs. 56). Still not a playoff team, but improvement from last seasons 52 points (Seth Played in 67 games).
Now please don't flame me as I understand that a hockey team is a mix and match of 20 players, but when one guy is getting 25 minutes a game and you have a horrible record and then that guy is pulled out of the lineup for a third of the season and the distribution of minutes is more balanced (even with TJ Broadie) and your team improves substantially you are part of the problem.

Full marks to Kyle Davidson to get rid of this POS
