people keep trying to meme no names mentioned or drop irrelevant names of software

we have real talk here

might get chel 20 soon. Very interested. Been reading the NHL 20 forum on HFboards.mandatory.com and hearing a lot of good things. Typically you hear the shit about how EA bad and all that garbage but I don't think EA is that bad! They have listened to our feedback and made changes!

Reddit's mobile site changed the way to collapse comments.

I don't like it, as I keep clicking on usernames and getting taken to their page.

It was fine, they shouldn't have changed it.

people who complain about ui changes/improvements are the most annoying people on earth.

imagine if we still browsed the web like we did in 1994. which is exactly what would happen if no one ever made changes.

People resist change all the time, even if it's generally for the better, and yes, it's annoying. UI changes generally (I won't say all the time) improve ergonomy and therefore browsing experience once you get used to it. Take YT or FB and I'm pretty sure almost no one would go back to the ~2010 version if given the chance.

It can be jarring and frustrating at first, for sure. And 100% agree that not every re-design is perfect, or better.

But generally, especially with big, major websites, large firms are brought in to consult and design things that really fit the real world. Even my little company hired Pixel Union to design and build components for our little product. It was a crazy transition but helped close deals at a much faster rate because it was a professional re-design, with logic and real implementation, versus a UI designed by a bunch of back-end devs who had no idea what they were doing. The transition for us was difficult, but every new user was flying in no time because it was now properly built.

People always shit on the reddit transition, but after a month or so using the new style, i can't go back. maybe i'm not a "power user" or "enthusiast" enough, but i think it flows better, and reads way, way easier. I also think, now that the major kinks are worked out, that the new HFB layout/design is far better. It took a while to get optimized and working properly, but it was an upgrade that was badly needed, and it seems like it's doing pretty good.

This is a snapshot from Feb. 8 1997 of tsn.ca. I can't believe anyone would want to go back to that, because I'm sure the first "web1.0" revision was pretty different.
Or YouTube from Aug. 31 2006. So bad.

I'm not arguing against any and every UI change. I described my exact issue with a small change, so I don't understand your reply.

Reducing the size of the clickable area for collapsing comments would be a little noticeable.

Replacing part of that area with a link to that person's profile is downright infuriating when I'm constantly clicking on those links accidentally.

Now, it's more likely that I misclick and get taken to a page I don't want. That's bad design, don't even try to defend it.

The new reddit redesign is not usable though. Thankfully the old.reddit.com links work.

I'm not talking about new Reddit.

I'm talking about a specific part of the mobile site that has recently changed.

In fact, they keep f***ing with it. The little collapse arrow used to be to the left of usernames, now it's on the right. What, can they not test this shit before rolling it out?

Try using the redditisfun app instead of the official reddit app

Man seeing one of the hf members move to the midwest makes me think maybe ol' Mikey should pack up shop and give up his season tickets and move to the midwest. But then I wouldn't be able to attend my beloved Caps and Nats and Redskins  but maybe job prospects would be better out in Texas

lot of IT work there in Austin and so on.

Has anyone else considered a cross country move of the sort. Maybe California too. Hmm.

The midwest has already boomed, you'd be better off going to the mideast

Stop with the lame joke attempts this is a serious thread.

Would you accept work outside of buffalo if it paid more?
I am serious, the middle east is largely undeveloped. It stands to reason that with all the global interests there that it is due for a boom. I am trying to help you.

I am pretty settled in my life at this point and it is very unlikely that I would get an offer great enough to change that. I would be open to it should it arise however.

Too hot there. I need to stay in America. If I leave the country to work it'll probably be in Europe.

I am probably going to refocus my efforts on hardware installation and repair (despite it requiring A+ certification which I DO NOT HAVE) rather than coding which is a pain in the ass. I mean who has time to learn a whole different bunch of languages and syntax?

literally you. you have all day, every day. even just taking one hour per day out of ESPN time, you'd get it down in a year or less.
