I’m just so excited that the Kings won’t be playing the Ducks or Sharks in the first round again. The new playoff format was cool in theory, but it’s really lead to repetition in first-round matchups more than anything. If the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks are good every year, then it’s likely that two of the three will be playing each other in round one. Kind of a bummer.

Anyway, so excited! Bring it, Vegas!
I agree, people who like this format forget the Smythe Division days when it was Edmonton and Calgary as 1st and 2nd round matchups all the time with a smattering of Vancouver.

Can we match Vegas's energy level? That's what concerns me.

There's so much parity in this league that regardless of talent, the team that brings the most energy in any given game usually wins. Vegas has been a buzzsaw all year.

Of the 10 first round series on the Pacific side since realignment, 2 have been the same. 80% of the time so far they've been different.

The Kings played the Canucks in 2010 and 2012. Played the Blues in 2013, and with a conference format, it's the Blues again in 2014.

This team is impossible to predict. I have no idea what to expect for Game 1 especially given the flat, lifeless team that showed up last night. Strategy seems pretty simple, score goals in the 1st period, actually be ready to play hockey when the puck is first dropped.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the Dallas game. I've seen girl scout meetings with more intensity. My favorite part was when Benn was giggling as he was going full huggy bear on Toffoli. Kings didn't really have control of their own destiny last night and Stevens ice time usage and roster selection reflected this.

For the last few weeks I absolutely wanted this matchup, I wanted to finish in the 1st WC, I wanted to avoid San Jose.

Now it's here and I'm kinda disappointed. A win against Dallas and we would've played Anaheim. Would've probably been more difficult, but also more exciting and emotional. One playoff series against the Ducks in 20+ years isn't nearly enough.

Also, I hate hate hate Vegas' 1-7 loss yesterday. Would've preferred a 1-2 or so. Now they got a wake-up call and will be looking to bounce back.

Having said that, I'm still confident that we could win this series.

Agreed. I hate it too (also because of the weird system where a team with fewer points can get home ice). However, we played the Ducks only once in our existence.

Got my game 1 tickets and hotel, I'm taking a vow of silence til game time. Wish me luck :)

Very nice. Enjoy the game and soak in the atmosphere, great arena to take in a game.

I was looking to get down for Game 2, tix and hotel are doable but getting flights is just too pricey.

Really? No Fox sports for any of the first round? That's surprising. Guess it doesn't matter much now that Bob is retired and Faust and Fox do NBC I guess? For the love of christ though, no Emerick, that's all I ask.

That's just the national broadcast. (I'm in Denver). Unclear if FS West will have the first round like years past.

But I think we can all agree its funny the Ducks have been banished to the Golf channel...

Think Reeves remember Doughty laughing at him last time they played?? Doughty better keep his head up. I'd rather an illegal elbow or ass into the chest not take him out for the series.

Could get Ducks/Kings in the 2nd round. Sounds good to me.

We're getting NBCSN for all our games... Guess Kings vs Knights is worthy of prime time.

Ducks - Sharks Game 4 is being broadcast on... The Golf Channel.... hahahahahahaha

Probably mostly due to the Vegas story.

Fully expecting Kopitar and Doughty to get nipped by Reaves.
