Didn't Torts get a contract extension not too long before he got fired?
The tables can turn fast. Slats affirmed Torts's job security 4 days before he was let go.

Yes, but Lundqvist threatening to leave as a UFA pretty much forced him out of town.
Unless Lundqvist pulls the same **** with AV, he will be back next year.
These are the type of lazy arguments and over-generalizations that frustrate me especially from smart ***** like Herman.
Hits are correlated with lack of possession. They aren't (necessarily) the cause. It's not that the NYR don't have the puck because they are focused on hitting. They don't have the puck because they can't beat a trap or a stacked blueline to save their lives. And because they don't have the puck, they inevitably hit more.
LA Kings "tuffness" like being able to grind, generate a forecheck, and cause havoc in front of the net undeniably WOULD help (even with possession) but the NYR suck at that too.
Me neither. I vaguely remember Richards having a lot to do with Torts getting canned.I don't remember this.

I do remember Hank having a say too, but not with threatening to leave.
betrayed again...i hate you all.
I get the idea, ride the horses as hard as you can. But you simply cannot compare Seabrook, Keith and Hjarmalsson to McD, Skjei and Smith. Keith is an absolute stud future HoFer, and I believe largely underrated. I wouldn't take McD over any one of those guys, and Smith isn't even in the discussion. I will resign that Skjei definitely has the potential, he can move the puck and play solid in his own zone.
I truly think Rangers management has overvalued the current roster. Their "top" guys cannot match with the "real" contenders best. As I said earlier they just lack the high end talent that cup winning teams posses.
I think this current roster will continue to be a playoff team with early exits. I understand they have a large passionate fanbase to appease which is why I don't believe that they'll do what they should've done after the cup run which is re-build.
Habs fan coming in peace.
I have a genuine question about last night's game. Wondering if anybody has the answer.
Haven't had the time to follow the NYR closely but I noticed in last night's game during the PP that they'd try to enter the zone by stick-handling through a MTL player and failed to gain the zone the handful of times in a row this happened. Not once did they dump & chase. Was a little surprised at this, to be honest.
Wondering who's idea was it ; the players' on the spur of the moment, AV's, or the NYR's PP specialist's?
Per Dan Rosen, Kreider-ZBad-Buch was both a line for regular rushes and during PP work, so I'm guessing Buch on for Glass tomorrow
Dumb but predictable AV move. Take out one of the few effective players in exchange for more perimeter play.

Yea, what will we ever do without all the offense Glass brings us.
Who cares about banging bodies when you cant put the ****ing puck in the net. Glass isn't even a NHL player.

I wasn't talking about fan opinions, I was talking about what's happening on the ice. Julien made an obvious adjustment in Game 2, and it's killing the Rangers because AV keeps trying to jam a square peg in a round hole when it comes to beating the trap. Also, AV is gifted with some of the best forward depth and one of the best goalies of all time. Don't talk like this team doesn't have talent.
Regarding Laviolette, have you seen how Nashville has obliterated the Hawks so far? Ya know, there's also this:

Hes been more effective than at least 9-10 other Ranger forwards. Even has a goal. Not defending him but he has certainly been a positive this series. I think you even know that. That speaks to more how pitiful the top 9 has been.
