Don't believe it was an offer, believe it was just a comparison. On the other hand,There was a 1 point difference this season and 3 less games for Marchenko, while Knies was playing hurt. Knies is signed to a good deal long term while Marchenko is a RFA next year. Pretty sure Columbus would take that deal and run if offered.
Going to be wild when it's for Larkin isn't it?before you offer spare parts and futures: the list of players columbus would trade marchenko for is extremely small
Acquiring a center does make some sense if they think Jenner is bouncingDon't believe it was an offer, believe it was just a comparison. On the other hand,

Close to home too, good buddies with Werenski from team USA.Acquiring a center does make some sense if they think Jenner is bouncing
Just have multiple in about 3 rounds, like Chicago, Calgary.I'd do that. Can you even trade out that many 1sts?
It won’t be for Larkin if Marchenko is moving.Don't believe it was an offer, believe it was just a comparison. On the other hand,

Maybe but he's still an RFA when this deal is up next summer which is different from other older players. The team has much more control in the case of an RFA. He could elect for arbitration to get it down to 1 year but even then the team has time to find the right deal.Maybe he signified he doesn't want to extend and wants a trade?
Players seem to start asking for trades publicly more and more... Maybe Larkin and Nurse started a trend.
Jenner is more of a winger at this point. And supposedly Columbus is letting him go because they don't want to commit 6 years.Acquiring a center does make some sense if they think Jenner is bouncing
6 years ? Yikes. Hope it’s not my team ( but it might beJenner is more of a winger at this point. And supposedly Columbus is letting him go because they don't want to commit 6 years.

Why would they do this
he was underpaid like crazy for his whole career. wants to cash in in a couple of years and they can't afford him. smart move, if true.

CBJ fans largely seem to agree he was playing hurt, FWIW.Near the end of the season many CBJ fans felt like Marchenko played as horribly as Boone Jenner did, essentially hot-dogging it down the stretch. He played every night like he was waiting for the country club the next morning. They missed the playoffs, and his uninspired play was a big reason why.
If he is getting lumped in with Jenner in the eyes of management and Coach Bowness (Bowness ripped Jenner for not caring about losing), he's very likely going to be moved.
It should net CBJ a huge return though, he is an absolutely amazing player when he is motivated.
Columbus is really flush down the center. They had to move Sillinger, Lundestrom and Jenner to the wings and they have a 2C candidate, LDBB, who is going to be pushing for a full time job in camp. There's a chance Monahan is pushed to the wing.It has to be to upgrade the centre position, right?
Larkin is significantly older and into his UFA years. The closest comparable would be PLD who requested a trade as an RFA. Columbus was able to take its time waiting for the right trade to materialize. Basically there wasn't any pressure until he outright quit on the team midgame. So yes there could be immense pressure if Marchenko does basically threaten to quit.Larkin still has 4 years left, he still went public to ask for a trade...
When a star player does that it puts immense pressure on management... Team control or not.
Why are we moving a young top 6 forward for a young top 6 forward.Probably for a very good and likely young top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman. Waddell IMO wouldn't be looking to sell good young guys for futures, or cash in youth for experienced vets. Maybe just move one good young guy for another good young guy. For roster construction purposes or culture purposes or both. Contract situations could play a part too.
Mixed of hurt and overpressure. I pointed out how he was bullrushing offensive entries a few days ago and basically playing selfish at one point. He got so angry he was removing people from his social media account over criticizing him at 1am (probably on the charter flight back) which mean he was also probably playing frustrated too and if you ever done anything competitive you know what happens when you try to force play and overthink...CBJ fans largely seem to agree he was playing hurt, FWIW.
if cbj want to get serious (though i know nothing about their prospects n pix) detroit could heap on some key players to larkin starting with debrincatDon't believe it was an offer, believe it was just a comparison. On the other hand,

Maybe the GM doesn't see him as a winner or a leader or a good locker room guy. I don't know. Why are we moving a young top 6 forward for a young top 6 forward.
