Imho, Petey came down with a case of fatchequeritus. This condition overtakes an NHL player who was a star and once they sign their UFA contract, it infects their bloodstream making them perform 60% of what they used to do. Jamie benn, sequin, Huberdeau, pick a goalie, have all gotten this toxic disease. To cleanse this disease, you need to do what Duchene did, recieved a buyout and take less money on 1 year deals. This will rid the said player of fatchequeritus and they will return to form.

I think some people hoped that the change of scenery would get Pettersson going after a concerning stretch of play going back to last season.

As far as players making big money in the league, he's one of the more concerning contracts lately beyond his play at the Four Nations.
