Low Effort GDT Sens @ Oiler - 8PM - ESPN+/TSN5/SNW - Chat GPT Edition

I'd say this game is pretty even af 5 on 5, we might even have the better of it. Penalties are 4-1. That's tilting shots in the Oilers favour
We had zero sustained offensive pressure all game (save for the last 5 minutes, where everything was on the outside). Edmonton controlled the pace of the game and totally contained us.

We got one PP the whole game, there were a few calls not made in the third...

Ah well, 3/4 so far on this trip.....have a great Xmas, and come back and win the next 5 before heading home.

Despite the loss, the team is so much harder to play against and there is a real commitment to team D. I think we've got issues with offense from some guys though and can't help but feel like we're missing a good top 6 forward.

Another weak game from Norris. Hoping we can move on from him at some point and bring in a better player.

Ya I get that. He's not thriving because he has a weak partner.

But it's play by play and he's got to make that play
Absolutely does. But a better partner is probably not forcing him into a bad spot. I’m hard on Sanderson. And in the moment especially.

But then you have to think how many times does he have to expend the extra energy just to bail hamonic out. So then the one that f***s us over stands out

I thought he had a good game. Way better than the last two.

8million dollar doesn't mean you should be carrying a guy who is a number 6-7 defensemen.
You're right. It doesn't mean that.

Bit it does mean you're expected to make simple plays. That goal, imo, is on Sanderson. If you want to blame, sure, go ahead.

It was a simple play. He should have made that play

Did Hamonic force him into a bad spot? In that moment?

6 of 8 points. Lose the back to back where team had significantly shorter rest.

Top 6 needs to figure out how to pass the puck properly and create better scoring chances. So many missed passes in the last 3 games.

Hopefully the time off helps Stutzle, Tkachuk and Ullmark with the injuries enough that all can come back for the next road trip rejuvenated because those are the 3 most important players right now.

Can't win them all even though there was an opportunity here.

Ulmalk leaving the game is scary. Hopefully he is back after the break.

Sucks to snap the streak but it was going to end sooner or later. Lost to the runner up with the 2 best forwards in the league. It happens.

Question is how they respond the next game.

I've watched a lot of hockey in my day, and every team looks like shit once in a while.

Take a break, move on and win the next game we play! It's a long road trip and it's been good so far. Just don't get into the rhythm of losing.

I don't know if I want to move on from him, but I'm extremely concerned by his inability to take a pass, to make a pass, and his reluctance to shoot (where did those patented one-timers go?). Don't know if it's physical or mental, but this is not the Norris we know from a couple years ago.

Will be interesting to see when Zub can get back. Broken foot, right? Hopefully by mid-January which means surviving the second road trip.

December 28th against Winnipeg, then the Wild and then Dallas finishing off with St Louis.

That's a pretty tough schedule.

Hopefully the players on this team can take the break, enjoy the holidays and come back crisper because the past 3 games have been fairly poor in terms of passing, generating good offensive opportunities. This team can play with anyone when they're on.
