Some of us have been saying this for YEARS!

It was a pretty clean, solid period. Then they failed to clear the zone and just gave up, stopped playing. First they allowed that cross ice pass through the slot and then they were just soft, standing around puck watching instead of actually boxing out. I don't really get it. They proved they can play solid defense but they somehow mentally checked out a couple of minutes too early.

Not only does Kevin Bieksa hate the Sens, he's also a former Vancouver Canuck. If they weren't ass kissing the Nucks all intermission, I would have been surprised.

Maybe he was poorly positioned but so were his teammates. They were screening their own goalie without actually doing anything. You have to either step up to challenge potential shooters or you have to go down to block the shot when it comes. Or at the very least get out of the way and box opponents out of the slot so your goalie can track the puck and see the shots coming his way. The Sens skaters did nothing but preventing their goalie from keeping track of the puck. I don't know if a more experienced goalie would have saved it but the Sens skaters certainly made this a tough stop. Much tougher than necessary. They stopped playing after 18'. This isn't on Meriläinen.

Chabot Jensen is our top pair now with Zub out.
He plays Hamonic vs JBD with Sanderson. He would be terrible with Kleven. Easy on the coach bashing.. He has them going pretty good
