Found it!

I got lost and then eventually stumbled in haha. I had the cuttlefish okonomyaki and it was delicious. That sweet worchestchire sauce was incredibly addictive.

A lot of people were ordering the yakisoba dish, which also looked great.

Thanks again for the recommendation and the homework Dr.! I owe you one.
Awesome! Did you take any pictures? Was it the same old man making the okonomiyaki?

So cool, it feels like I'm re-experiencing my trip vicariously.

Re: soba, don't forget to try it somewhere! As you probably know, one way they have it is cold with some dipping sauce of the side.

I just took a picture of the okonomyaki itself, but yeah I think it was the same guy making it haha. Was a super low-key spot that probably doesn't get many tourists, but everyone was really friendly.

I had amazing soba in Tokyo, actually. I got the dipping sauce that had the duck slices in it - wonderful.

Exactly! The most authentic spot imaginable! Only the locals would even know it exists.

Wow, there's no way I can find this in Ottawa.

For sure. It was a really fun meal and I can't thank you enough for the due diligence haha.

On another note, I had the best noodles of my trip today at a Kyoto udon spot called Yamamotomenzou. Waited in line for like an hour and got a pretty savage sunburn, but it was worth it. The noodles were the platonic ideal of al dente, I've never experienced anything like it. Their tempura was unreal as well.

How was it

Pretty incredible. I had it done tepanyaki-style, so it was cooked on a flat griddle in front of me basically. Other restaurants will do yakuniku (charcoal grilled) and shabu shabu (kind of like boiled).

I asked for rare and it was cooked perfectly. Basically melted in my mouth. I paid ~ 60 USD for 200g of A4-A5 beef, which is a pretty good price afaik (supposedly it's much cheaper to eat it here). I'd definitely recommend if you get the chance.

That's why I had my parents do the painting while the wife and I were out having our last weekend away before the baby came :p

I had it done the same way, but it was in Tokyo and unfortunately quite a bit more expensive. Great experience.

So okonmyaki in Hiroshima is next level.

You've started me down a dark, dark path my friend.

We had a new type of intersection open up near my house today. Apparently it is the first of its kind in Canada, and is supposed to be really efficient.
