Geez , you guys talking about these high end cars makes my Kona N seem like child's play.

I can't wait til the next time I buy a car. Hopefully I won't also be buying a house that year and can up my budget a bit.

All these cars are out of reach.

Have you guys ever tried the kia ev6 GT or the Hyundai ioniq 5 N? How would those compare to cars like the Durango hellcat or the Porsche Macan or the SQ5 (the cars mentioned in the last couple pages). I've been parking next to this ev6 GT and that thing reminds me of Porsche electric cars. So sleek. A neighbour of mine has the ioniq 5 N and it looks like an oversized retro 80s hot hatch and I think that's kinda cool.

I keep hearing great things. Was curious if anyone here has driven them and has opinions?
Nah Kona N is fun as hell. Elenatra N is awesome too, ioniq 5 N is the only electric car I'd even consider buying right now, the thing is amazing. I am loving what Hyundai/Genesis are doing right now. I feel like every electric car manufacturer is going to copy the Ioniq 5 N and the first one to have the car make exhaust noises on the outside is going to make a lot of money.

Aren't the ioniq 5 N and the ev6 GT very similar though? They share a lot of things.

I'd give the edge to the kia in looks on this one.

I never even heard of the GT I just googled it and I like Ioniq 5 N better. I am sure they are similar, kia and Hyundai are the same company or share the same stuff, however they are doing it.

Runs out of steam?

According to fastestlaps

Ev6 0-60: 3.1
Hellcat 0-60: 3.4

Ev6 0-100: 7.5
Hellcat 0-100: 8.9

Ev6 1/4 mile: 11.4 @ 121mph
Hellcat 1/4 mile: 11.7 @ 117mph

Ev6 lateral G: 0.92
Hellcat lateral G: 0.90

Ev6 u drag: 33.80
Hellcat u drag: 36.00

The hellcat does have a higher top speed, but it seems you have to be going well over 200km/h before the hellcat would have any type of advantage.

It seems to be ahead in terms of maybe a mile long airport runway style race, but otherwise, in town acceleration, or around the track handling and braking, seems to be the edge to the ev6 GT on paper over the Durango hellcat.

Like micklebot said, it's more of a "throw more power at a regular car" type of thing rather than something built for performance for the ground up.
If you are a car person with car DNA, electric cars can perform in whatever which way. The emotions are completely nil. That's not my cup of tea. Screaming, muscle car sounds are a lot more engaging. I cannot pry this thing from my wife's hands if I want to sell it and get something else. She loves this thing.

Maybe it's the bright lime green brake calipers that remind me of the Porsche 918 Spyder lol but I like it.

Oh I agree with you about exhaust sounds and everything.

I was addressing the running out of steam part, unless I misunderstood it. I took it to mean that after a certain speed the acceleration falls off...but the stats don't really show that. It traps at a higher speed in the 1/4 mile.

But I agree I would rather a big turbod v8...but since companies aren't really making those anymore, I have to adjust my wants for my future realistic dream performance car.

Those stats are more than likely on a full charge which will slowly diminish the more you keep on it. The ICE motors have the same constant performance regardless of full tank and empty tank. That’s what’s hard for me to accept in a full EV. My wife’s is a 2021 and I have an extended warranty for 5 years. If I get rid of this, I am under strict orders to allocate a 2025 which is the last final version lol. The girl really loves this. Never mind the kids, especially the boy. He loves this overweight, horsepower king.

Interesting! I knew that they go into power saving mode under a certain percentage but I didn't think it was gradual...yet I'm seeing plenty of people only say their 0-60 times degrade with battery charge. Like every 10% it goes down a few decimals. Interesting indeed. I wonder why a 50% charge would produce less power than 100% charge? Is it a setting or is it like physics kind of like a PSI type of thing if that makes any sense.

Anyone watch the new Dune premiere on HBO? Was alright but I really am not a fan of the Brian Herbert stuff. Too schlocky.

Checked out the first episode btw. First half I'd agree was somewhat painful. Then it kind of found its groove and the atmosphere took over and I actually got pretty into it. Wanted it to keep going.

are still in the Guinea pig mode of EV's not the stallions.

It's a physics thing, as the charge of a battery voltage drops, your going to see performance drop. Think about it like your electric drill, it's not a linear drop, you probably won't notice it until you get really low. My understanding is you typically don't see a significant difference even in the high performance at 75% charge and higher, and it also typically isn't affecting daily driving performance until you get extremely low (the battery management system kicks in to protect the battery and make sure you can find a place to charge).

Cars are an emotional thing for me, which EVs just don't hit. I drove a friend's Audi GT RS, their beautiful Taycan twin, and yes it is fast, but there is no crescendo to it. There is no excitment. It just goes eve bending quick but with no fanfare.

It's like someone going to an F1 race today. Unbelievable cars that sound sweet. But go back to the V10 era, and there is no comparisonas to the emotions that stir in you , and that is what cars can and should do to people.

The only EVs in my house are my whipper snapper, lawn mower, and eager to try (not to eager lol) snow blower. The only car I could remotely consider would be the BMW i3 series whatever it is called

Sounds like you love the V8 engine. With all three cars mentioned, they are very healthy-sounding beasts. Nothing stirs the soul like a thunderous V8...If you are looking for a monstrous V8 that goes like nothing else, take a look at the Dodge Durango Hellcat. I bought one for my wife a couple of years ago and she loves this thing. Build quality is surprisingly very good. No creeks and rattles. In fact, she had a SRT Dodge Durango for three years and then I traded it for this 2021 Durango Hellcat. If you love to laugh like a little kid and dust off practically anything that pulls up beside you, this is it. It will be discontinued after this year 2025.

I’m fine with a 6 too. V8 gas mileage is awful but I like those old Toyota NA V8s as they were bombproof and didn’t have many things that could break. Now they’re running twin turbo 6s with multiple timing belts it’s just too sketchy for me for a car that I want to own for 250,000 miles+. Different story for a German car that I know is gonna be a pain in the ass to own.

Get a golf cart. Best electric vehicle purchase I’ve made and my wife and I have a Mach E.

Aren't you in Florida, not sure the Golf cart option works quite as well up in Ottawa...

Pretty sure the i3 has been discontinued (2022 was the last?). I think in 2026 they are releasing a new i3 but it's technically a completely different car from what I understand.

Yeah I mean their 3 series electric car, i4 M50 is it?

I look forward to seeing them divest themselves of Rodgers. Enough with the washed up sideshow on a non contender roster and time to get serious.
NO NO.. Can you imagine Ryan and Rogers..... It will be unbelievable.

The Jets have been trying to get a QB for decades. The 2 efforts at a high pick was: Zac Wilson.. a huge bust. But, that was dumb luck. A covid influenced draft. And Sam Darnold. He went to a shit show, with no quality offense and no quality Offensive Coordinator.

Gino Smith waited 10 years to break out in Seattle!!! Hackenberg was a bust

It ain't easy to find yourself, one of them Good Ole Quarterbacks. Broadway Joe ain't coming through those doors.

Lol, if they want the drama, go right ahead, but it doesn't sound like Rodgers will be around. I think they're much better off trying to re-set and get rid of the drama.

How do I explain to me 16yr old son that Dallas Cowboys is not the team to hitch his wagon too. Poor kid fell in the trap last year of making the Cowboys his team.

Point to Leafs fans and inform him that the Cowboys are the equivalent of that in the NFL.

Should be pretty easy to get him off that bandwagon lol. Just make him watch like any playoff game in the last 20 years? Anything with Romo should do the trick.

Just becomes a summer toy. I grew up in Steeple Hill area and a few folks had them there.
