Does anyone think Bob Boughner would take an assistant job with Smith? Smith was Boughner's assistant in Windosr
Simpson seems to not like quite a few people though
Also Simpson was gone from the Leafs long before Smith arrived, so I am not sure how Simpson working for the Leafs makes a difference
Sorry, I was referencing the salary portion. He would have been cheaper than Smith IMOAnd DJ Smith has 3 years of HC experience in Junior.
Mann is far more experienced
Its his second proudest day as a GM. Nothing will ever top trading Stone though.
I believe Simpson was involved in Smith's drafting process, not his coaching process.Simpson seems to not like quite a few people though

Good for drinks at Bert's bar in Barbados!I guess Roy didn’t want to be paid in Sens bucks.
Was he? The way he spoke about him, I assumed he was still with the Leafs in 2015.
The videos I have seen of DJ Smith seemed very in-line with how Simpson described him.
We shall see but going with the cheapest and least experienced option is not a good first impression from an organization that should be desperate about getting people to buy-in.

Simmer HATES Babs, almost like its personal, and I sure he learned his lesson from being extremely outspoken about the Caps GM, which was also very personal and pretty much made a fool of himself. Was he? The way he spoke about him, I assumed he was still with the Leafs in 2015.

I'm not a big fan of this hire, but let's not go making things up to suit the narrative. His PK seemed to need some work last year but his reputation coming through the minor leagues was that of a very good defensive coach.known to not know how to properly teach defense
Dorion has said a LOT of stupid things over the years, but there's no question that comment takes the cake.
Dude was legitimately an hour away from dumping Stone for a horrible return, then Stone saved the day by agreeing to sign a last minute extension with a team he'd never played for, which got us Brannstrom instead of god knows what.
That was your proudest moment as a GM? For shame man.
Just wondering. Who truly know D.J. Smith has a coach here?
Like who can talk about his strength and weakeness as a coach?
I doubt it being where he's from.Does he speak french? Here's hoping he doesn't so the pressers don't get interrupted with the same questions.
Maybe he'll be good who knows for sure? My issue isn't Smith himself, its Melnyk for always going the cheap route.Awesome. I know I’m one of the few who had him high on my wish list, but I think he’ll grow on the naysayers.
You might as well get used to it. Melnyk has about 8 dollars to spend on this team going forward, we better make them count.Maybe he'll be good who knows for sure? My issue isn't Smith himself, its Melnyk for always going the cheap route.
And Tkachuk.....Dude is going to LOVE Boro, I guess...
