I remember talking with you about this. I believe you were looking strictly at 5 on 5 defensive performance.

At even strength we're a top 5 defensive team in the league, but our PK is atrocious at preventing scoring chances (2nd worst in the league in expected goals against), so in all situations we're around 12th.

There's still time to have a more favorable score but seriously with Fedotov and our breakaways we could have pulled away already. What annoys me is how many times they pass up on scoring chances for I don't know what reason.

Okay 12th is not as bad as you suggest.

And greens 5 on 5 defence is elite. The pk needs to change tho he doesn’t run that

So saying greens teams have been bad defensively and relating it to us is just not the right assessment

Perron would elevate Gaudette and Highmore anyway, Green needs to make that switch. Nothing wrong with Perron’s play but he’ll get back in the top 9 soon, we won’t be healthy forever.

You can't look at all situations and try to link that to defensive play, not every team has the same ratio of PP TOI, PK TOI and ES TOI, not to mention xG has significantly poorer predictive value on special teams.

I agree our PK is terrible, everyone does, but people are commenting on the sloppy play 5v5 so your original claim the people were fooled by goaltending falls flatvsince you're introducing noise with all situations that doesn't relate to what was being keyed in on.

It doesn't make sense, Zetterlund is easily a Top-9 forward on this team.

3 break aways Tkachuk, Greig, Cozens all tried to sneak it 5 hole.. An observation, not a criticism.

@Burrowsaurus would have scored on all 3.


Testing Zetterlund on the 4th line ...really not doing it for me. Very hard to impress playing there with those two muppets.

Something needs to change to get a 4th line we can roll..and not get caved.

Jenik can play C on the 4th line... too much given to Gaudette and not earned
Bongiovanni could have had a look by now.
We should never have settled with Gaudette as our 4c

Highmore works hard doesn't do much.. can pk I guess. He's replacement level. Crookshank, or Reinhart can take his place without missing a beat

its pretty slim pickings but these guys are failing at the job.

It's a damn shame we couldn't win at least one of the games on that Florida trip. The third Atlantic spot would have been attainable. Too much to ask for now.

Cousins MacEwen and Gaudette worked early in the season, I'd be ok with MacEwen over Highmore. Jenik didn't look good in his callup, not sure who can grab Gaudettes spot at center with Ostapchuk traded, can Reinhardt play center?

Crookshank had a good callup too, I'd play him over Highmore right now.

Cousins can't come back soon enough...

I think it’s also smaller adjustments to fix a PK vs bad defensive play full strength.

If we had 1 game tests we'd have a lot of turnover. Jenik looked good earlier in the year. Who was Jenik playing with on his last callup?
