Lmao of course the plug Highmore is immediately slotted into a top 6 winger position.

Holy f*** I hate this team
Gaudette was put on the top line in Chicago in his first game, before he got benched after playing just over 7 minutes and then became a healthy scratch the following game.

I see no issue, vesey had his shot, did nothing.

The bigger annoyance is when guys like Sven are in the minors who would be clear upgrade over mich

It will be interesting to see if anything leaks out after his contract expires. I wonder if he pissed someone off in the Canucks brass.

Though, Green really doesn't seem to fancy pure skill unless they are elite. Goldobin was another guy that was pretty much cut off. Green didn't seem to like Shinkaruk and Jensen down in Utica either.

By my calculation, Baertschi has been on waivers at least three or four times....and Benning has been trying to trade him on or before the trade deadline in the past two season....but zero takers.

Part of it is the contract, obviously....but the rest is the player. If he could help the Canucks or any other team in the NHL for that matter, he'd be up here. As it is, he's closer to playing in Europe than the NHL at this point.

The bigger question is why Benning traded a second-round draft pick for him and then signed him to an albatross $3m contract.

you want vesey there instead? highmore has no covid residue and played nearly 16 minutes last game.

and vesey has apparently played himself out of the top 6.

Vessey needs to put up points in a top six role, or there really is no spot for him. What does he do to help the team? Soft as Charmin player, who is way too easy to play against. He won’t be back.

some 20/20 hindsight takes.

many people liked the original gamble for baertschi. it was definitely understandable at the time, and baertschi was a decent player for us before concussions who still had upside.

the contract was fine until concussions took away his game. you can argue the canucks should have anticipated that but concussions are not an easy thing to anticipate.

where we have ended up with baertschi seems to be a standoff where the team will not dress him in the nhl. the exact details on why i don't know, but it is not a good look.

vesey has that ghost look of a veteran playing out a contract by being "professional" but totally uninspired.

This is a perfect example of how social media elevates people who shouldn't have a platform beyond holding a sign on a street corner.

Rather than ignoring his idiotic takes, people with thousands of followers respond and legitimize their idiotic opinions just to have a target to dunk on.
Social media does give a disproportionate voice to the fringe.

It is the opposition that promotes their opponents position now. Shapiro, Carlson, Greene, etc... are all trending on twitter every single day. Not because of fans of theirs, but because all their opponents promote them by "dunking" on them.

People really need to start educating themselves on how they are helping spread the bad agendas by giving light to them.

Either by accident, necessity or design (maybe not), the Canucks are being forced into using guys on their third and fourth lines that they should have been targeting all along.

The likes of Highmore, Vesey, Boyd, Michaelis and Hawryluk are all making under $1m a season, and in some cases close to the league minimum.

The thing you notice is how much faster they look than the plugs the Canucks have been utilizing down in their lineup. With Beagle and now Roussel injured, it's actually been 'addition by subtraction'.

If you add Motte and MacEwen to this group of forwards, the Canucks actually have a very serviceable bunch of third and fourth line forwards on very team-friendly contracts.

Who knew? You don't actually have to overpay for depth forwards!

But are those younger, faster, and more skilled guys, “you know” good in the room. Are they “you know” glue guys? :)
