Oooooh now here's a good trivia question for you. Who scored the last game tying goal in NHL history in a game that ended as a tie?

Answer in the spoiler...

Assisted by Brind'amour and Cole, with Williams and Hill also on the ice. Both Irbe and Weekes played in that game for Carolina. Florida's goalie was Roberto Luongo who had already set the league record for shots and saves. Of course it turned out to be the only goal for Fast in his only game, something that only 4 non-active players have done. And turned out to be the final game-tying-goal in history. And, as it turned out, converting this L to a T caused the Canes to finish behind Florida in the draft order. Canes decided to trade up to #4 to take Andrew Ladd; Florida got Olesz at #7, and Columbus used the Canes' pick to take Picard at #8.

That was really quite a goal, lots of storylines intersecting in one little moment.

Ha, saw the tweet. For all the memeing of that goal that happens on these boards, I'm surprised I didn't know the extra tidbit about it being the last ever game tyer.

To clinch the division:

- 2 wins and 2 Devils regulation losses (yes technically 2 wins doesn't clinch us the division if we got no other points and the Rags won out but realistically the Rags have no shot at the division so ignoring them here)
- 3 wins and 1 Devils regulation loss
- 4 wins
- other scenarios with OTL but screw that we're winning these games

So we can clinch as soon as Thursday, or much more realistic Saturday, just need to take care of business against lesser teams (if only that were as easy as it sounds). Either way would be great to clinch it before the last 2-3 games so we can rest some guys and go into the playoffs completely fresh. Devils have Pens tonight, CBJ Thursday then Boston Saturday. We've got Ottawa, Nashville, Buffalo

Nevermind, don’t want to spoil others.

One of my two guesses was right though, so suck it losers.

Tkachuk might not play. Joseph was run into oddly in the morning skate and HE may not play.

It’s been a weird season y’all. Enjoy the win 😂

Merilainen is pretty interesting. He struggled last year in the ohl on one of the better teams in the league then returned to Finland to play in the liiga where he was having a strong season this year. Now he’s come over and made his ahl debut with a shutout and immediately finds himself in an nhl game.

The Canes are selling the bullshit ones for $50 in house, which are the same as the freebies, just without the corporate branding
50 dollars and they don't even look like the players. Wow. Big no.

I've never collected bobbleheads nor plan to, but you might as well pay the 25 dollars extra to get an accurate looking bobblehead if you're gonna pay 50 (which is already high anyway).

Counting for inflation that's only $12 in 2008.

That clip @Svechhammer posted brought me back. I watched that game and that's probably the first high-scoring game from both teams I'd ever seen.

Today also marks 4 years since ending the playoff drought and 14 years since Babchuks cannon in OT to clinch what would eventually be the 2009 run.
