Now comes the road test to hold onto first.

I’m figuring devils win 3 of next four so we need to get two wins to retain first.

Preds, Ottawa, Buffalo, Panthers and Red Wings at Home.

Get a win on Thursday in Nashville and we are essentially there.
While those aren't top tier teams, most are fighting for a wild card spot so will be going all out. I'd almost rather be playing teams with a spot locked up who are probably going to be coasting into the playoffs.

One other thing..... Necas ripped the shit out of that shot in OT. I had to slow down footage just to see where he shot it, all I saw in person was him shoot and then it bouncing out of the net, had no idea he beat the goalie glove side. Absolute piss missile of a wrist shot.

Think it was blocker side but yeah the goalie had no chance in hell at stopping that. He misses shots like that pretty routinely which is to be expected given it's usually not in OT situations with a lot more time and space, and bar down with that velocity is incredibly hard to do consistently. He'd be 40-50 goal scorer if he could channel is inner Ovi and improve his percentage.

I said it during the game but it beats repeating, KK was seriously frustrated with himself in the 3rd last night. Took one shift and came back to the bench, slammed the door and kicked it probably 10 times before sitting down. And a few mins later was still yelling at himself as he moved down to make room for others coming off their shifts.

Don't tell me the kid doesn't care. It's probably the most emotion I've seen out of one of our own players in a game in a while. If he continues to dedicate himself to improving, he really could blossom here.
Interesting, what was the context of the shift he took before that? I don't recall him making any significant mistakes such that he should be that upset. I do like to hear it though, I would like to see our guys get more fired up like that

Shit, you're right, blocker side.

Genuinely do not remember. I didn't recall there being any glaring screw-ups to cause it, he just got pissed on the bench.

I'm just sick of the hearing the narrative that we have no "game breakers" or more annoyingly, "oomph per 60" to win it all. While that is true to some extent we also play a system that isn't exactly kind to forwards looking to inflate their scoring, plus we are a small market, and our players get little exposure. Having a player just go HAM point total wise would help drown some of that out.
I mean we have several guys who CAN be game breakers on any given night unfortunately 2/4 of them are on LTIR.

What gets under my skin is that a certain national writer stakes his entire career on being the guy who doesn't need raw stats and can cut through all the white noise to get to the real nuts and bolts of what wins hockey games. Same exact writer endlessly hammers at the phrase "oomph per 60", appealing to Don Cherry levels of statistical sophistication, to explain why the Hurricanes don't have the ability to win. Meanwhile the Hurricanes have consistently won at a President's Trophy pace across a sample of something like 200+ games now. Writer continues to hammer "oomph per 60" with apparently zero intention to look through the white noise and understand that perhaps the lack of oomph is embedded in the system that helps them win hockey games rather than scoring races.

Are you trying to tell me that oomph per 60 isn't a legitimate advanced metric?

That was also a bit of a combination of ideas. beat they ass has been a meme here for as long as I can remember. We also have another joking phrase in English, the beatings will continue until morale improves. I decided to combine to two to freshen things up, as you said, and because a certain subset of hfcanes is in hysterics despite the team being second in the league. Hopefully some more beating they ass will improve their disposition.

And as far as talking about doing things to they ass in a sauna, I think that would get me banned. I’ll leave that one for canesfanfics.
I just hope that aho tactfully brings this up in a sauna session with poolparty, in fluent Finnish but gently, IT SHOOTS THE PUCK OR IT GETS THE HOSE, and hopefully the message travels across!

Just tuned in for the OT and what an exciting one it was, even with all the regrouping. Totally agree with Tripp that Necas is so confident and poised.

Your Boys are looking switched on heading into the Playoffs.

Too similar of a movie moment to that image.

At first I thought it did hit KK's stick but upon replay if it did it would have invalidated one of Newton's laws of motion or something.
It's funny that Newton established rock solid laws of physics, then his famous comment on "standing on the shoulders of giants" was actually a mean comment aimed at a contemporary rival scientist who was a noticeably shorter guy. (I forget who that was, can't have been John Locke. Somewhere in the archives...)

Honest question, have we EVER scored on the scrambles out front? Seems like it's 50/50 when they happen in front of our net, but I can't recall the last time I remember us getting one in that scenario
Good point and question. In the past 3 years? Seems like no.

Love this from him. Would absolutely love him to hit this heavy on a consistent basis going forward.

Beautiful hit from KK *chef's kiss*.

Ghost also had an old school hip check against the Sens that was really nice too.

That one was VERY close to being a leaguewide highlight reel moment. The Sen pulled up at the last instant, otherwise he was going to go spinning a la 1987 Rock 'Em Sock 'Em videos.
Oh, I really thought he landed the hit. I was like damn, Ghost can deliver monster hits.

They didn't show a replay of KK's hit and they didn't show it live (I think it was out of the camera frame); so it was great seeing the replay on Twitter. That was a monster hit IMO.

I thought Ghost had a great game and was pretty physical all night. That hit was almost a real beaut.

Sens broadcast showed a pic of Raanta posing with a very young KK alongside him and then one of them together as teammates now. Great pics, KK must’ve been about 12.

He landed it for its intended purpose — stopping the guy on a dime and with enough power to knock his breath out.

The only missing part was the guy not seeing it coming and doing a cartwheel. That would have been sweet.

And yeah, I didn’t know Ghost could play that game. I guess it comes with the skating skill.

ONLY THING FASTER IN THE ARENA WAS THE SPEED WITH WHICH UNDERPANTS WERE DROPPED AFTER THAT SHOT.

Robert Hooke.

Am physics teacher. Always tell that story to my kiddos. Newton was not well liked by any of his contemporaries.
