Pre-Game Talk: SENS @ Buffalo, Tuesday 7pm (The Norris-less game?)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Liked Norris as a person but getting rid of that contract was in the absolute best interest of the organization.

Staios was able to get out of two disastrous contracts in 4pisalo and Norris and in return got 2 key longterm pieces.
Ah, I remember well saying Norris had to go and being told by many it would never happen. Didn't see a deal for Cozens when speaking about moving Norris, but full marks to Stevie, the deal looks good so far!

I'm surprised it happened mid season, I didn't think we could move a 8 mil contract in the middle of a playoff race, both because not a lot of teams could take on that contract, and we couldn't afford to not get an equivalent caliber player back. I think we caught lightning in a bottle finding a trade partner here, and that's before seeing how well Cozens has fit in and bounced back.

I'll eat some crow on thinking it was never going to happen at the trade deadline, I still believe Norris can have a decent career moving forward. I think his shoulder concerns are becoming less of a concern every day, but Cozen does seem like a better fit, particularly when we have Greig and Pinto who can play that 2 way game.

Nobody needs to eat any crow - you're absolutely correct regarding moving an $8M oft injured player. I thought it would be a dump then an add. Credit to Staios for proving us all at least a little bit wrong! 😀

I don't hope you're right and Norris goes on to have a solid career. Seems like a good dude.

jensen, zub, gilbert were 3 of the 5 skaters on the ice. Seems like Zub/Jensen are the game time decisions.

Other two skaters were Tkachuk and Ullmark

With a day off in between games and since they'll have to use Forsberg once on the weekend for the B2B, I think they should be starting Ullmark for this one. Forsberg has improved of late, but this means the next 4 games are a 50/50 split.

Like all the games remaining 2 points would be huge here.

Our magic number (in points) for the chasing teams are as follows:

NYI - 20 points
NYR - 18 points
CBJ - 18 points

For those not familiar with the "magic number" concept it means that we need a total of 20 points to be either gained by us or lost by the Islanders to mathematically clinch a spot over them. The number is 18 for the other two.

The Isles play both of the other teams down the stretch and the Rangers only play the Isles. We get three against the Jackets the rest of the way. Those will obviously be big games.

GSG!!

Love the magic number! That means we are really close.

I think this used to be used exclusively in baseball.
