Gustavsson is hot/cold like pretty much every non tier 1 goalie in the NHL. Fans who obsess over losing him need to chill out. He is not an elite goalie.
PTSD from then taking on a 4 mil goalie that looks like he might be the worst one in the league.

At least Gus is youngish and might have more to give. The Korpse has always shown this is what he is.

How the f*** do you lose against Swiss

He’s better than what we have, I’ll give him that. Not saying much though.
This past year your post rings incredibly true. He was atrocious. But somehow better than korpisalo

Before that trade, I wanted to go with Forsberg/Gustavsson. That would have been a good duo (before Forsy injuries) while we were slow cooking Sogaard and Merilainen

Gudas always turtles though in the NHL. Hes the toughest guy out there today because he knows there is no fighting
Love the hits, don’t really love the response either personally.

Kelly behaves in a similar way though, and in truth that kind of stuff gets under the skin of the opponents and can be effective. Ruutu was like that as well.

As long as we have a few guys like Brady, Kasty, and Ostapchuck, maybe Kleven, and hopefully one other tough SOB on RD, we’ll be fine.

Good mix of pest and brawn is what we need.

As far as the Gold Medal game goes…. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Czechs win, with Mike Buckna aka the (Canadian) “Father of Czechoslovakian Hockey” being the Canadian connection.

Could, woulda, shouda kept ex Sens Nick Paul! Turned into a very capable big bodied forward who can win battles, set up plays and score!
Was always obvious. Dorion the destroyer strikes again.
The worst gm in all of sport of all time. Came here and destroyed what we love.

Nice to see Czechia win, seeing how important it was to their fans and how much the tourni means to them was kinda cool.

That would have been the smarter play in hindsight, so good on you for calling it at the time. I was pretty shocked when I saw them ship out Gus for a short term replacement so quickly. As usual with PD, he was reacting to a situation rather than predicting potential outcomes correctly.

I know some were down on Gus in 2021-22 but he was seriously left out to dry pretty much all games. I initially wasn't high on him but eventually did a 180 as he showed progression. He's a technical sound goalie with quick pads who can rely on his technique, will do the work in a structured system, something that Minny was less of this season (Spurgeon injuries hurt too)

He was only 23 y/o that season, there was absolutely NO REASON to move on from him during a rebuild for a 34 y/o veteran with only 1 year left. But of course, Dorion never really understood anything so in hindsight, not surprised at all... The times he did the right thing were actually more surprising.

It was even more surprising given that they'd protected him over D'Accord. They basically lost two young tender possibilities for 1 year of a re-tread. Then they go out the next year and plop down 20 mil for a guy that had no business getting it and hamstrings the team for years.

Dorion's mismanagement of goaltenders is one for the record books.
