  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I think we are counting our eggs before they hatch with the defense. Dillion is a strong candidate to be a shit contract within a year or two, Kova just got a big contract based on a partial season of good play, he’s a good candidate to become our new Marino. And so far we have no homegrown replacement for Dougie based on how they are handling Nemec and Casey. I think the improved defense has just as much to do with the coaching as it does the personnel.

Cotter and Noesen are fine additions. But how many of us saw that this team still lacked depth? I only partially agree with your take on the core. I don’t know how much I can blame them in the sense that realistically they are at this point clearly a tier below other contending cores, both in terms of their talent but also durability. The GM of this team needs to understand that this core is not like the oilers or lightning. There needs to be significant depth to make up for it.
Maybe...but my view is if this team "needs" significant depth...it can only be because the top end of the lineup isn't really top end

What’s your definition of top end? Do we have a McDavid or MacKinnon. No, we don’t. So you have to win through depth.

Don't really think Kovacevic has been bad at all lately?

I see him making panicky moves with the puck like most of the other defensemen. Don’t know that he’s been bad necessarily but he’s been part of the problem. He gave the puck away for the go ahead goal against Calgary, he took a delay of game penalty tonight.

I think Keefe is pissed with the defensive situation as a whole right now which I don’t blame him for.

I'm really starting to get less impressed by Keefe. Under Ruff we had heaters. And even with last year's debacle he had a worse roster.
I like Keefe, but saying you need to see more before judging is fair. He just got here this year so I don’t think you can lay the issues at his feet.

They are a tier below guys like Mack, Kuch, Drai, Matthews. And that’s ok, you can still win the cup it just requires acknowledging that these guys aren’t at that tier and it needs to be more of a committee approach. The construction is flawed. Where is the natural goal scorer or sniper? Nowhere to be found. We’ve been without one since Kovalchuk…twelve years ago.

I honestly like what Keefe brings quite a lot. The team had quite a heater in December, and I think his bottom-6 this year isn't as good as what Ruff tbh. When they play the system correctly, they play extremely good hockey. The supporting cast isn't good enough. In 2022-2023, everyone was rolling. Keefe doesn't have the luxury of having 0.5PPG 3C Haula or 25+ goal scorer Mercer, as well as 25 points Lazar.
