Look at how Ottawa defends up in the 3rd. Playing percents and maintaining defensive leverage, physical along the boards to earn the puck back, keeping middle shooting lanes clear so the goalie can see it. Totally different from how we have been playing with a lead since 4 Nations

Maybe, but pretty sure the guys in the bottom-6 are just garbage tbh. Toronto's depth scored in previous years.

They either lucked out by having generational talent at the top of the draft :
Col - McKinnon Makar
Edm - McD Drai

Or have good GMs/ willing to take chances:
FLA - savy trades and willing to make moves
VGS - does whatever it takes to make moves / trades
Dal - draft amazing
WIN - draft well

We have had some good draft picks but also some very stupid mistakes - Holtz Stillman Nemec ( Nemec still can turn out to be a good pick though ) .

If he was either fast or physical he'd be a regular by now, but he's neither which wastes a pretty decent toolkit otherwise

Maybe, but his best stretch of production was as a center with Bratt and Johanssen on his wings.

His best was February and March of 2023. He wasn't playing with Bratt then... I believe Mercer was playing wing with Nico and Tatar and Jack was with Sharangovich and Bratt

He had 22 points in 26 games in February and March of 2023. Spot checking the game logs Nico shows up mostly on Mercer's goals.

Thats not true. I lived it. It was a constant turnover of different bodies in his bottom six
