  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Lazar, Haula, Bastian, Tatar and Downling have a combined 20 goals. 4 goals each average. That's horrible for bottom 6 guys that have combined about 260 games. Impossible to be a solid offensive team overall when 5 pieces of your bottom 6 for the vast majority of the year produce like that offensively.
That has to be the worst , or close to , bottom 6 in the entire league . If there is a worse bottom 6 , I’m guessing it is a young team like SJ and st least they have the hope of them improving. We have a bottom 6 made up of what should be career AHL’ers , washed up vets that should not be in the NHL anymore . All of Dowling Tatar Haula Bastian Lazar all need to go .

Not listening to the injury excuse when they were butt for a month and a half till 4Nations with everyone that got hurt after or before in Siegs's case.
Last year he came on somewhere (probably multiple places) and said injuries are real and not an excuse.

He talks like a sleazy politician. That's exactly what he is.

We don't know who the candidates are, but I definitely don't want Marty. That's for sure.

I'm not even gonna list Chuck, I don't think there's any chance he's the GM, unless it's on an interim basis. And we probably won't have an interim GM unless it's a midseason firing.
It has to be an outside hire. Has to be. You can’t go with an internal replacement when Fitz himself was an internal replacement. Say we blow this it’s 2 playoffs in 10 years with largely the same front office group. You have to nuke the front office, obviously not overnight but you start by bringing in someone external to lead.

I think the lack of organizational depth is on the GM and front office. The lack of depth hampered the team in January and a February and then the string of injuries finished it off.

That there was no one capable of stepping in being capable of filling a depth role is an indictment on the GM. Especially when you consider the team has bled out depth talent in recent years. And if you look at Fitz’s trade record it seems we have consistently slightly overpaid a bit compared to similar moves by other teams.

End of the day any team can have a year from hell. You can’t have 3 out of 4 years from hell.
DIdn't like the Haula deal, thought it was a little rich, and a little long, but I still figured he'd be a decent 3rd liner this year.

Mercer's regression isn't on Fitz.

Noesen is a fine 3rd liner. Cotter a fine, and very cheap 4th liner.

Palat's deal is a contract that sucks.

For playoff teams, it absolutely is one of the worst. I remember doing a post about 2 weeks ago to add to another poster's great point, and it showed our bottom 6 is one of the worst.

Montreal has 70 goals from their bottom 6 this year.

Glass is also a solid addition. If he's kept he'd be a solid 4C for us.

Remember two months ago when we were told it’s just a “stretch” despite the fact that they couldn’t score for shit 5v5 with a fully healthy lineup and that we have nothing to doom about because Fitz will without a doubt fix the depth scoring by the deadline? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Agreed.

What about Kate Madigan? She's not an outside hire, but not an original part of the SheroFitz staff.

Dan MacKinnon is the third stooge of the bunch. Apparently he hasn't been here from the first post-Lou season, as he's still listed with Pittsburgh in 15-16. But he's been here since 16-17.

it'd help if they looked like a Stanley cup contender with those guys but it'd be hard to say that they did. and he's had plenty of time and assets to fix it and didn't.

I don't think Washington is as good as their record but it's crazy to see how they went from a team that traded Fitz a guy like Siegenthaler for a 3rd to becoming the team that makes the value trades/pickups while still developing their youth on their NHL roster while also having a good farm team. idk it's hard to imagine there isn't a guy out there that could be a better GM for this team seeing how teams like Dallas and Washington's both long term and recent moves lol. Not even including drafting there but those two teams also seem to go for higher upside players in the draft so there has to be someone on those teams available or someone from another team with that kind of mindset
Caps and Stars drafting is miles better than ours . They take risks on drafting guys with higher ceilings while we draft “ safe” picks are draft for need ( at that time) instead of best player available . Imagine having Rossi and Cooley right about now ? It wiiid be nice . But nope . We thought Holtz was going to be Jacks triggerman and Nemec was needed instead of a C because we already had Jack and Nico …..

I like it.

But hate to burst peoples bubble but he is going to be the 3rd line C next year.
Hey he's an upgrade over Haula that's for sure, and Haula at 4C is an upgrade on Lazar.

So it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I think Fitz is going to have his eye on a couple bottom-6 wings, a 3C, and a top-6 winger.

That was befoe-wah the injuries tho. That's tree pretty big guys gone and Ondrej Palat makes foe-wah!'' - Tom Fitzgerald

We did that with Shero and went the complete opposite with Shero up front. Shero probably picks Cooley over Nemec, Stankoven or someone like Zellweger over Stillman and Rossi over Holtz

I hear Jarmo is looking for a job :sarcasm:

I mean, I don't know if I have absolute faith in him, I'm just not as done with him as some. I also don't think anyone coming in would do a better job.

I don't necessarily have a lot of faith, I'm just willing to give him another summer.
Another summer, I think they should fire him tonight!
