GDT: Senators @ Devils 7:00 PM MSGSN, MSGSN2, ESPN+

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

What happened to pre-Christmas Luke ?
He was a force on the ice both offensively and defensively . Now ? He has to be fighting a nagging injury or ran out of gas or ???

I think they can still get there, the core is still pretty young and they have solid pieces coming along soon. But yeah, imo the top end is solid, but they don't have enough talent surrounding that top talent.

Fix the bottom-6 and I'm pretty convinced we're in 2nd in the division right now. They just don't get production from the bottom of the lineup at all.

I don't see fixing the bottom 6 being that easy. Ideally we have guys in the system already that can step in next year but everyone either sucks or won't be there yet, aside from Gritsyuk hopefully.

We can certainly critique Fitz, but losing players the quality and importance of Hughes, Hams and Siegs is going to ding any team.
If he drafted properly and knew how to evaluate talent we wouldn’t have to worry about this.

If he used the available cap space to get someone like Cozens we wouldn’t be using the injuries as an excuse, because that’s all it is given how their bad play started back in Dec when they were healthy.

Why should ANYONE have faith in Fitz fixing the bottom 6?
I mean, I don't know if I have absolute faith in him, I'm just not as done with him as some. I also don't think anyone coming in would do a better job.

I don't necessarily have a lot of faith, I'm just willing to give him another summer.

LOL
Sportsnet color guy “ Devils are a dangerous team , with talented guys like Hischier Hughes Bratt HAULA”
As soon as he says Haula , I knew that this guy has not watched one second of Devils hockey in the past 3 years

I think it can be done. Other than Cotter, Glass and Mercer (if he's even seen as bottom-6). You get rid of everyone.

That's the other thing. While it's easy to just write it up as an excuse, you can't subtract a team's best offensive player, best offensive defenseman, and best defensive defenseman and expect things to work like they should.

The team probably should have had more points before all the injuries. The team had incredible injury luck until January. And it turned out that the Markstrom injury was basically meaningless, as goaltending was as good as it had been all season in his absence. And now it's at its worst since he came back.

Those injuries will probably be the difference between getting into the playoffs and not very convincingly, and just barely missing the playoffs if we do.
