Well, when we re-signed him he was a 60+ point winger, with 40 goals. I'd like him to be a consistent 30-35 goal, 60-65 point player and his contract is exactly right for that.
I had hopes he'd be a point per game guy .. that is not happening.

Sure, compare a guy under team control with no contract leverage (and had no real comparables before current contract) with someone who scored 40 goals.

They do have similar numbers, Meier is slightly ahead without any PP time, and Zetterlund is playing major minutes for a bad team.

Meier has 50 PIM and Zetterlund has 8. I love Zetterlund and wish we didn't have to trade him but they're not quite the same - I do think Zetterlund could become that.
It would have been an ok 1 for 1 deal, but it wasn't exactly that. It was a terrible deal like many others, from giving away Sharangovich for basically nothing to letting Boqvist walk. Instead, we ice total crap in lines 3 and 4.

that's a knock on meier, right?

most his PIM are terrible taken penalties off bad hits at the worst time. it's not like he's some kind of power forward, fighting guys, bringing fire and protecting his linemates

I’m personally over Mercer. he’s had a pretty good sample size with the Devils now and except one season he has looked very replaceable. Package him in a deal and get a player that will contribute offensively.

Tee-shirt time! Keep the fans there as long as possible.
The illness excuse is particularly patronizing because literally the whole team up and down the roster f***ing sucks. How many guys do people realistically think are battling illness?

Delusional takes have been the norm all season. The world and life are against the Devils.

Other than a complete inability to put the puck in the net and generally lethargic play, sure.
Yes, losing a back to back to Carolina after beating them has nothing to do with getting goalied by Dostal, or losing a tough fought game to Florida in a shootout, or losing to Philly when they had absolutely nothing in the tank. These aren’t part of a clear trend.

The fans need to show some emotion and BOO these guys. Get pissed, show your dissatisfaction. Don't just sit there thinking of the NFL playoffs tonight.
