Correct. Lindy Ruff was the problem last year. But its really a lack of effort by the players. You can't teach players to be more motivated.

We traded our motivated players like Zetterlund for a low effort players like Meier and wonder what went wrong.

Unfortunately if this stretch continues and we lose today it will add to our list of dropped points to 'bottom feeder' teams... and it will cement us as an average team. We will only be +3 W vs L. I know, I know points percentage.

Point is, that's not a contender. There are no OT exhibitions in the playoffs.

At some point you question whether the 24-14 team before Christmas was the real team or the 3-9 team (if we don't come back) is the real team. I can't believe this malaise is lasting this long.

Markstrom reminds me of Craig Anderson. Plays well when facing a barrage of shots and high danger chances, but will allow the softest goals out of nowhere. Hard to complain about him after the season he's having but he's not someone id trust in a high pressure playoff series.

Meier is absolutely worth the money. I'd like to see him be more of a 60-69 point player vs 50-59 point, but he brings a style we don't otherwise have and you saw some things even in this game that makes you realize he has a lot of talent.

I'd like another player in his mold to add to our top 6. It ain't Palat.
