IMO you can dislike the trade for Duchene, and you can dislike his production.. but I don't think you can find fault with his effort and work ethic he brings every game... He is constantly trying to create. He battles as hard or harder than any player we have... His skill level blows away any other forward we have..
Matt "Participation ribbon" Duchene. Elite top 30 center.

Really hope we re-sign Magnus. Says a lot when fans of the team losing the guy are sorry to see him go.

Sharks fans said the same thing about Tommy Wingels and Burrows is sadly missed by Canucks fans not because he was still good at hockey, but because it was the end of an era in Vancouver.

I really hope this team stops giving out contracts to bottom 6 forwards just for the fun of it. Let's at least watch him play a few games first.

Part nostalgia in their case, but point taken. Canucks fans liked burrows the man, not so many were crying about losing burrows the hockey player.
I read they'd miss his patented wrap around.. He might be a good fit here ... have to wait and see... I would not rush resigning him at this point

I like what I've read about work ethic and defensive mindedness. I'm expecting an above average 4th liner and nothing more.

He has very good individual skill for sure but blows away the likes of Hoffman and Stone I dont agree.

Ockham' razor would suggest it's more likely yes, but...

EK has said his injury has really only limited his lateral agility. His playmaking and hockey IQ, his speed have remained the same. So why does it look like those traits have been compromised?

Knowing his desire to win, his fondness for luxury commodities, you'd expect he'd be playing better to strengthen his stock for his upcoming contract.

Look at the skills competition, he should just literally walk away with it. His walking is most NHL'ers full sprint in terms of talent.

Something more is off to me.

Occams razor would suggest he is about to become a Dad, so that's what he's thinking about.

Yeah, if we're talking physical skills Hoffman and Duchene are close.

Stone doesn't belong in that conversation unless we're including hockey IQ and vision.

Likely the ongoing rift with Erik and Boro. Add in a coach that apparently wants everyone to be like Boro and sacrifice their career blocking shots likely has a dent in his enthusiasm.

Boro made comments in the media about 2 seasons ago now. The typical rah rah rah, play the right way, general coach butt-kissing stuff. Generally applied to be a bit of a dig at Erik.
It wasn’t so indirect. The guy said people like him need to reel karlsson/players like karlsson.

If it was any other team or player that guy is in the minors or traded the next day

I think thats the problem Fol....Everybody was convinced he was a center, but it was clear as day he is a lw that can play some center

Wait? What? He's been a C his whole life and is currently 15th in FOW% among regular centremen.

I'm probably going to regret this but why do you insist that he's not really a centre?

Oh stop...His best seasons came as a winger ....His team Canada inclusion was because he could play both, but they even played him more as a winger...

In each of the last 5 seasons (since the lockout) Duchene has won more than 500 faceoffs every single year except one where he won 428. Sounds like a C to me. He's been used a winger at times on teams that have an abundance of Cs like Colorado (O'Reilly, Stastny, MacKinnon) and Team Canada (too many to name) because he plays the wing well. To suggest he's a winger playing centre is crazy.

He was drafted as a C.

He takes a lot of draws and is good at faceoffs.

He plays a 200 foot game and covers a lot of ice.

He's a centre flat out.

The only thing I see that suggests he's winger playing out of position is your opinion.
