Torrey was a genius. no doubt.

But initially putting the Islanders in Nassau was a NHL panic move from the WHA encroachment era, and once the Islanders were total shit, it's pretty apparent why the NHL wasn't completely sold on putting a team in the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum .

God, the interstates on LI are SO SO SO much worse than the NJ highways or the Hudson Valley highways. Why did they build so comparatively poorly?
