Now do the past 10 years

Time to turn the page, you would be dumb to think USA isnt closing the gap
Canada : 5 golds - 2 Silvers
UsA : 3 Golds - 1 Silver - 3 Bronze

Still not jealous...I can play this game all day.

Original poster was saying we're jealous which we're not. And yes USA is closing the gap along everyone else.

We're alright. Combine the population of all hockey nations and compare the the US and I'm sure the US still has by far the biggest population pool. The US is a top notch producer of hockey players. No doubt. They're scary good at all levels. Them being 10x the size of Canada and "only" just as good isn't as incredible as you seem to think. USA hockey has taken off in recent years and I'm very impressed with their development programs.

Between other sports taking up the bulk of athletes and Hockey only being offered to a fraction of the population if we actually used that population pool it wouldn't even be close.

What I’m seeing is that US competes with all hockey nations while not being a “hockey nation”.

Canadians don't only play hockey. It's also a small fraction that do play hockey.

Usually, when you see someone post all-time stats/records it probably means their current team/player iteration is lacking/losing/not playing well...just from what I have observed on message boards.

All of this success comes with an asterisk though as Russia is not participating and Russia has the American numbers more often than it doesn’t
Covid cup? LTIR cup? (INSERT any excuse here)

Cups are cups. Titles are titles. Winners are winners. And losers are losers.

Don't be an assterisk.

Nope just a rebuttal to a post with stats to prove a point. People don't use reasoning anymore?

The players that lost in this year's tournament forsure are. But in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal.....yet.

Canadian giving it Sikora.
The caps prospects have really endeared themselves to home crowd this year. Sikora, Leonard, Hutson… Mateiko

Yup Canadian bball and soccer have both made big strides internationally in the last couple years

sorry, not replying to you...how you got there IDK lol
So many bitter Canadian fans have reared their ugly heads this weekend. You don’t have a monopoly on the sport. Such clowns

I'll admit some posters have been bitter. It's funny after Canada lost to Czechia, American posters came on to antagonize Canadian posters (probably because some Canadian fans were being idiots)

When I posted earlier about some American parents at the LLWS booing the kids at a baseball game I was accused of making it up. I didn't say all, or most booed, I said some did and it was 100% true.

There's more we have in common than differences between us.

Yes, we have rapid hockey fans and lots of them, and some are idiots.

Read a game day thread between Penguin and Flyers fans, or Leafs, Bruins fans. All fans see things different. One of the great things about sports, and one of the worst things too.

Congrats on the win and good luck tomorrow.

Because about 98% of our population has never even skated before. If America cared about hockey we'd be the best in the world.

Exactly. If 22% of our households had a child playing hockey like canada does it would be over.

Uhm... I don't really get these arguments. So you say you don't care about hockey at all in the US, isn't that a big negative factor for your hockey program? What is your point lol

It's just saying that pointing to the total population of the country is meaningless when nobody in the south can be exposed to the sport in any meaningful and consistent way.

The entire countries of Canada, Sweden, Finland, etc. have hockey-playing conditions. Maybe 30% of the US does, at best.
