I guess we do over reactions almost like the Canadian fans but what I really do not like is how effing negative we always are against our own teams, that so regularly tend to outperform our paper strength. Like we basically never are the top favourites in any tournament and we pretty often actually win them or medal etc. But a bloody minded, negative, pessimistic, vittumainen nation... In our unfortunate location in Europe it probably has been a very necessary attitude :)
As a swede I like to see this as your swedish heritage being so strong that you out-swede the swedes in self-deprecation. Because we used to do this. Don’t know what has happened to it.

Yeah i remember Slovaks bullying us after the 2010 Olympics qf
Eye of Ra, you've shown good sportsmanship this year and a new strategy. Trying to anti-anti jinx this time around but came up short. If you play against the US I hope you win the bronze. Thanks for always being around here no matter what.

I have been annoyed with the tendency to choke in the past. But they didn't shrink, play scared or lose some big lead.

They just couldn't score that last goal and eventually Finland did. Playing a bad goalie vs a good one is frustrating to watch.

There might be something in that :) The historical Swedish influence has obviously been huge, Sveriges rikes lag has been the foundation of our society. It still is surprisingly difficult for people to admit, but luckily less so for the younger generations. The choice was between Stockholm or Novgorod/Moscow, and we didn't hesitate...

You guys kept it way longer than we did, we scrapped most of it in 1809. Mostly because we had to.

No you definitely didn’t hesistate :)

Didn't like Stenberg running Rimpinen multiple times ( one of them was finnish d being stupid), did like Tommy Salo v2 in Swedens net.

Good game, well worthy of Finland-Sweden rivalry.

I definitely agree with that. Finnish people are one of the worst on this board with that, maybe the worst because for some reason we like to laugh at other people losing/something happening to them
Laine 5 is still the funniest thing i've ever seen outside of Jatkoaika, funniest and schadenfreude inducing.

Finns are either ultimately optimistic or pessimistic, no inbetween.

It wasn't really a choice, was it.

No one knows this, but the Swedish Church Law was instrumental in the history of Latvia too. We probably would not be an independent state if it wasn't for it.

Getting a little offtopic though

Damn. How on earth (albeit on ice) did Team Finland manage to win this one? It seemed they came out just to defend the flimsy one goal lead on the 3rd turtling there flat footed and half paralyzed apparently trusting Rimpinen as the unbreakable last lock would shut it off and when the Swedes tied it it was by this Logic game over for the young Lions - except they didn’t buy this logic.

Actually I stopped watching the match in the OT when Tre Kronor got that ”ridiculous” power play. I changed the channel to some True Crime on YT to forget the whole damn thing but ironically this silly act turned out to be a true crime itself against the spirit and nature of the game and loyality and support you are expected to show until the end no matter what.
