Is Thelin really the best goalie Sweden has? Finland has Rimpinen, Vali, Saarinen, Vinni, Härkönen and Vedenpää who all would've been better.
No, No he’s not. He’s been below average in Allsvenskan while Gidlöf has basically saved Leksand in the SHL. HUGE difference between those two. This is why Swedes have been so vocal about how bad Thelin is.

After the rather boring first period this evolved into a hell of the game. I was completely thrilled even as a neutral fan. Sweden was so dominant in the 3rd period, they were pushing ubelievably hard. I was 95 % sure they would score on the overtime PP but Finland's players in turn delivered a stellar PK performance in that sequence. The OT goal was quite a fluke but games such as this often happen to be decided by a similar kind of goal. I would say both team would have deserved to win today. Finland was better in the 2nd period, Sweden was insane in the 3rd when they were trailing for most of the time and had to push no matter what. Finland-Sweden games are often exciting, especially in the play-offs, and this was the case one again.

I love to be on this board to talk during this game but this kinda goes unreadable most times after the games.

I 100% understand the complaining about refs though. It was terrible both sides imo.
I’ve been saying for a while that we need one thread for all officiating-related discussion, and a separate thread for just talking about the actual game/players/tactics etc. The main (nhl) board is often just as bad

Exactly this. No killer instinct. Could see this loss coming a mile away.
Hard to play with confidence when you don’t believe your goalie is even able to save a f”cking beach ball. You don’t take chances. This shit is all on Hävelid and his goalie decisions.

Blaming this on the refs (or anything else) is just a loser mentality. It is what it is. All teams in the history of hockey has had a bad call against that led to a lost. We have had our fair share of wins because of bad calls.

We should have finished the game in the third when we were dominating or during the PP in the OT.

I’d rather see Finland beat us than Canada/US. Keep it in the Nordics. 🇸🇪🇫🇮

People will just call us whiners. Lol Seriously though the officiating was horrendous the whole tournament.

Rimpinen has the chance to become the new Saros. He won gold for his team. Back then we had TT, Lehkonen, Mäenalanen. Can Helenius and Kiiskinen step it up for the final? Or Halttunen. We were massive underdogs back then as well.
Kumpulainen and Alasiurua have been our hottest so far.

I've been impressed that Helenius has stepped up more and more as the tournament has gone along. I thought this was his best game. Maybe he rises when the stakes are highest?

One of the best messages I've seen after the game, thank you. :)

Well fought Sweden. I don't know why the hell our guys looked so lost in the third. Partly it was good play by Sweden, of course, but something strange as well. Especially after the second period which we pretty handily dominated. In the third I thought we are going to lose for sure.

Good luck in the bronze game. Will root for you guys, as I nowadays always do (except against us!).
