It was funny how the TSN reporter asked Nurmi about his CHL team being in the Mem Cup last year and the experience he took from that and he had a look like “wtf are you saying, lady?!?!” before he had to say he only joined the team this year and the reporter was astonished. I felt bad for her but it was bad reporting not checking what year he joined the team.

That’s my only concern. At this point Hävelid seems to be the guy who sticks to what he’s believin in no matter how it looks. Everyone from the outside can see that Thelin are due for a couple of stinkers every game and still he’s gonna go with him.

It is a concern. It would be far from my only concern though. There is a pretty decent opponent you know.

Sweden 55-45

On paper I have Sweden 70-30 but Finn's vs Swedes in a semi is a whole different thing with sisu and such.

But smart money says Sweden vs USA for gold and that is a very deserving final.

Czechs haven't won a gold since 2001 and are defending world champs.. that would be a very nice double

Finland can be pain in the ass, i could see some annoying OT win for the Finns. Sweden - Czech final and Czech wins the whole thing. I want to see that one Czech player that everyone hates after Canada match rubbing his gold medal in front of the local media and crowd.

All power rankings on the IIHF website are nonsense at all times and should be enjoyed for entertainment value only… We beat Canada in the QF and somehow that means something extra. But only in the power rankings, not in real life

But SWE - FIN has its own dynamic, so who knows. The more predictable result in the semis is US > CZ. But I would certainly not object to our team pulling off another surprise.
