Extremely surprised to see Buchnevich added rather than Allen or Duclair.

Why?

Butch led his junior team in scoring per game for two seasons as a 16 and 17 year old, while playing against guys who are 20/21 years old. The reason he didn't lead his team in total points last year is that he got called up to the KHL before he was even drafted. He also led the Russian U-18 team in scoring at the U-18 world championship.

Now as an 18-year-old, he's a top-6 player in the KHL, a league superior to the AHL or any other league outside of the NHL. He's big, he's fast, he plays a smart game for his age. I see nothing wrong with this kid. He was very good at the WJC that just ended.

The Duke is a good prospect, I like him, but he's playing against kids his own age, not adults in the second-best league in the world. His stats are very good, but not phenomenal. He's scoring about 5% more than St. Croix did at the same age. He's faster, so he's a better prospect, but let's see how he pans out in the AHL first. Butch's competition in the KHL is much close to the NHL than Duke's in the QMJHL.

He usually plays on Severstal's third line, with Evgeni Kovyrshin and Nikolai Kazakovtsev. Second PP unit.

Exactly my thought process - this season Buch has earned a regular top-9 in a league that's better than any league outside of NHL (on top of his continuous success at the highest junior hockey competition).

Went with Talbot here, just have to from what he has shown this season. Dude is legit. Add Duclair.

People I talk to say Duclair could fit anywhere in a lineup from 1st to 4th line. From what I saw of Buchnevich in the WJC, he looks like a top 6 or bust type guy. Doesn't care for the defensive side of the game. Teams can only have a couple guys that one dimensional and they have to be consistent offensive producers. How many time did Radulov get shredded defensively in his return to Nashville? I recall many in just one game.

Allen is practically here. I'd wager on him being a full time player starting next season. Years back I felt the same way fighting to get people to give Sauer and Hagelin respect in the prospect rankings.

Duclair v. Allen is our usual debate/dilemma in these polls as people argue whether potential is more important than readiness.
