Make no mistake about it, he is still very much the prick of old. Just ask turtles.

For what? Not punching him straight in his ugly face.
As much as I disliked him , have lots of respect, guy was playoffs beast, total 4 Stanley cups.

Great deal, and also positive that Seider and Ray now won’t hit UFA in the same summer. Adds flexibility
It's a huge deal. Larkin will be making less when his deal is up in all likelihood, which will naturally open room for Seider to get his big pay day should all things be going well. Meanwhile, we stagger the negotiations for Raymond and Seider and won't have to balance them against each other and make roster moves to open up cap space (which is what the Walman deal achieved, ultimately). Our long term cap structure is great, the current UFA sins (Copp, Chiarot, Holl and to a lesser extent Compher) will be long gone and our current crop of young players will be ready to be signed.

Mixed feelings. Like the term, but that’s a lot of money for a player who had a fantastic rookie season but then followed by a two “decent” seasons. Some say it’s because we forced him to play with bad partners, but that’s just an assumption. Hoping he continues to get better and that contract looks great in a few years.

Excellent point. Yzerman is playing 4D chess. We will be a contender very soon I believe.

When those contracts are ending...

- Larkin will sign an extension first, like 1 year earlier (at July 2030), than the real contract end. Takes a team-friendly deal.
- Seider has to sign next (July 2031), takes a team-friendly deal, because Captain did it first.
- Raymond signs later (at July 2032), has to take a team-friendly deal, because those 2 in front already did it. :)

I think Mo getting to the negotiating table before Ray was a smart move by him. By the time Ray's contract is up, the Wings will likely have to jump through cap hoops to make the room. Mo will avoid that.

I wouldn’t expect anything less from you.

If by soon you mean end of the decade, then yeah I think that is the goal. I'm not expecting much the next few years barring one of the prospects having a meteoric rise to superstardom. But I agree, this pair of deals should hopefully quiet the Yzerman skeptics for a bit, he crushed it with the term and dollar value.

Listen, I'm a shit poster, which means I'm a cheat and a liar, and when I'm not kissing babies, I'm stealing their lollipops. But it also means my movie quotes sometimes fly under the radar.
Not only did this one go under the radar. It went under the sonar.

Like I said probably crazy but... it was never playoffs or bust. Like he said he is building a nucleus or young core players. What if Seider was getting #1PP time and points, what if they went on a Cinderella run? What if he gained norris votes? In that cases he price would of risen and could of went for more. Again crazy I know. But again this a forum, I've been a fan since I was born, knew some old timer wings when I was a kid, I'll be a fan for life.

If he's getting #1PP time and points... the Wings are getting absolutely cratered in non-PP situations where Seider was deployed this past year. And his "bad" year (if we could see how this year went too) would look a hell of a lot better because you'd see how he played demonstrably better than Chiarot or Maatta in that defensive role.

If he gained Norris votes? It would have meant he played better and the Wings would be in the playoffs.

Like, Yzerman wants to win hockey games more than he wants to win the board room. If the Wings were going to tank a promising season where, honest to god, they were not just in the playoffs but it would take a miracle to miss (followed by the Larkin injury and the month of March getting like 5 of 17 points or something like that)... they wouldn't have signed Perron and Maatta and Holl and Chiarot and traded for Petry.

I'm sorry but this isn't "I know it's crazy but hear me out". This is pure cave troll insanity.
