I could be wrong but is it true a team can only retain on 2 players at any given time? If so Luongo is already being retained so this proposal is a no go value aside.

Has to be a contender for worst trade proposal in recent times, and that's saying a lot.

Rangers overpay for a pair of senior citizens (in sports terms), why?

Doubt they'll overpay, but the Rangers aren't exactly above making deals for players to end their careers there. They think dealing for aging superstars and giving away futures for big name free agents is a good plan.

Obviously since they traded Brassard for Zibanejad lets all their 30 and over free agents walked and only signed guys under 30.

Yes. Because outside of St. Louis (who was an integral part of our cup run), we have had such a horrible habit of doing that over the last 11 years... Oh wait. :shakehead

We just dealt 29 year old Brassard for 23 year old Zibanejad. We are the 9th youngest team in the league.

You are thinking of the 1997-2004 Rangers.
