We have Kreider, Zibanejad, Miller, Hayes, Buchnevich, Vesey, Zuccarello, and Nash in the top-9 disregarding Stepan as he's in the proposal.

The Rangers do not need forwards like at all. They have the deepest group in the league. They need to move a forward for a D, which they'll likely do by the deadline. This deal just makes no sense. We're not moving Stepan and a 1st for two declining 35+ players, Gorts ain't no Sather.

We already have 45238548294521098 forwards, and score 4 goals a game. Don't need more forwards, especially aging ones.

NYR are getting younger, faster and packed with forwards.

Why would they even consider this trade? 1 top 6 forward who is 10 years younger and will be worth 50+ points a season as well as a 1st rounder for 2 ageing vets who are late 30's and are on the decline. Get about 2 or 3 years of anything productive from them.

Has to be a contender for worst trade proposal in recent times, and that's saying a lot.

Rangers overpay for a pair of senior citizens (in sports terms), why?

Sedins @ 50 % retained for Derek Stepan + conditional 1st round pick 2018 (finals appearance in '17 or '18). Thoughts?

as much as I'd like to move Stepan, it's a no thanks for the reasons noted below.

If you have interest in Stepan, pls feel free to make another thread
our needs are acceptable Ds, quality ELC Ds, and picks
are surplussed at F and G

This addresses absolutely nothing for the Rangers.

I'd understand if it was for Tanev, but even then, a team like the Rangers isn't looking to sacrifice roster players in their position in almost any trade.

Nope, not interested at all in the Sedins. We are getting younger and building a team that will be a playoff team and hopefully close to a contender for the next 5-10 years without doing a major rebuild. Cant trade our 26 year old #1 center and another first for two old guys like the Sedins. Not happening.

Maybe if you take Girardi back and add a 7th, whilst also excluding Stepan, the conditional 1st and the Sedins from the proposal.

i lol'd

Sedins are going nowhere, they'll retire as Canucks
frankly Stepan is too old anyway ..will be pushing 30 next time we dont suck
we need <24s and a largely new core

however, one crazy idea I'd like to see is something similar for Bjugstad
Panthers have space, loads of other good young Cs ... they could really help them do damage in the POs and possibly win the next couple years

We are in the process of getting younger and faster. We have too many forwards as is and have a top 3 offense in the league so far (have been top 5 in previous years as well). We need defense at this point and nothing else.

Tanev would be the most attractive piece from Vancouver right now. We would have less than zero interest in the Sedins based on where we are as an organization.

No need for the Sedins. Only guy of interest in VAN is really Tanev. I'd love to get Stetcher also but not for Stepan, and I don't see VAN trading him.

Ignoring differing opinions on value I don't believe the Rangers have anything the Canucks would covet in a deal centred around Tanev.

The Rangers average 4 goals per game, almost half a goal ahead of the second-best team, and a full goal more per game than the average NHL team. Not exactly desperate for scoring by senior citizens. Even if they took on the Sedins, it would not be at a cost of Stepan and a first, not even just a Stepan. It would have to be at a significantly discounted price just because Sedins is not what the Rangers need.
