I don't really know what this is but I'm always down for Samuel Jackson yelling at people.

I still don't know what this is. Am I supposed to know what the Skrull are about? Is that just a common thing people know?

Feels like they dropped me into something halfway through with very little context.

Captain Marvel is the backstory.
If anyone missed watching captain marvel then they wouldn’t have much of a clue of what is going on here with the Skrulls. Can either watch it or just google for skrulls and spend 10 minutes reading up on it.

Hawkeye, Wandavision you needed to have seen infinity war and end game. Same with falcon and winter soldier.

Didn’t need any backstory for ms Marvel, Moon Knight, and even She Hulk.

Captain Marvel is the backstory.
the biggest chunk along with the mid and after credit scenes in Spder-Man: Far from Home.

Because the former shows built on the existing infinity saga existing story while the later shows were new and only had small links like Ms Marve's being a huge Captain Marvel fan or Bruce Banner/Hulk still healing from snapping everything back into existence or Abomination from The Incredible Hulk and the one scene in Shang Chi.

I haven't seen Captain Marvel but I think I was able to get the gist of the Skrulls pretty fast.

Disney does love leaving you out if you haven't seen anything though. I can't get over them putting the Grogu and Luke scenes, Mando getting a new ship and being told he's banished unless he cleanses himself in The Book of Boba Fett.

Well it comes down to, how big of a fan of a franchise are you or claim to be? I watch all of them, on both franchises.

I thought it was just okay. I was quite excited to see Ben Mendelsohn in this as he is a terrific actor. But the episode didn't entice me that much. The death at the end didn't surprise me at all as I didn't see their name in the opening credits. I thought it was all quite predictable for the most part.

It probably doesn't help that I started watching The Americans about a month ago, and that show is on another level.

I watched Captain Marvel but completely forgot that the skrulls were even in that movie.

Probably in the minority but the only phase 4 marvel show I have really enjoyed is Hawkeye.

I watched everything except for Ms Marvel, which based only on Ep. 1, didn't intrigue me. Moon Knight, I was confused. She-Hulk was kind of cringy..... Based off Ep. 1, I do like Secret Invasion.

I thought the first episode was pretty good. Spy action isn’t a genre that grabs me, but the Skrull shapeshifting adds a layer of intrigue. They did a great job sustaining a tone of paranoia.

My only criticism is that I want to see Samuel L Jackson playing Nick Fury, not Samuel L Jackson playing Samuel L Jackson.
Fury seems off from director Fury. But everyone is saying he’s changed since th blip. So that explains that. Why? Will find out.

What is Fury without Shield? That’s the consequence for Fury and Hill and the agents of shield show when they ended Shied in the winter soldier movie. Guess it came back in the form of Sword in some ways.

Fury wasn’t around in Civil War and only end credits in infinity War and at the end of End Game. Last time we saw him post end game was in Spider-Man FFH.

He also seems to be spending some mysterious time off-planet, so who knows what that’s about.

To me it’s just jarring to see him suddenly acting like he’s Jules Winnfield instead of Fury. Maybe it will be explained and this will seem like a silly complaint for people who binge it straight through.

Agreed. He used to be so plugged into everything up to Winter Soldier, then puff. End of Sheild. Last real encounter with him on this current timeline (not going back to Capt. Marvel), was when he brought one of the old carriers out in Age of Ultron.

Again, it's the lack of having an organization behind him to allow him access to information on what's going on in the word that does make you say, he doesn't feel the same.

There’s also one other extremely obvious twist which would explain why he suddenly showed up and didn’t seem quite himself. I’m hoping they don’t go for the low-hanging cheesy twist, though.

He could also be playing possum, the long game, for everyone to underestimate him. I get the feeling that he's making his appearance intentional.

This quite well summed it up tbh.

I did figure as much .. I just hope it's not that obvious
that would be way too obvious....right?

The original Avengers cast, even the supporting ones like Fury/Hill/etc. have been around a good decade. At some point the studio is going to remove them from the continuity timeline just because in the future, people are going to ask where is Fury? Like they did in Civil War. Always felt that he could have come in and calmed things down but, that wouldn't move the storyline to where they wanted it to be before Infinity War.

Another good episode. This show is connecting some nice dots in the MCU, laying some groundwork for the next Captain America and the Thunderbolts

The quality of Marvel is declining. That's why all the Avengers' actors (except Mark Ruffalo) have quit.

Having characters we already know are skrulls like Mendohlson and Clarke makes the concept a bit less fun because they can't be the imposter, with a cast of nearly all non-skrull characters, any one of them could have been revealed in the end to have been skrull the whole time, and people would speculate online which one. The only twist that would really land is the real Fury being in space this whole time, Colman would be predictable, and the president NOT being a skrull would be the much bigger twist. They could have a nice one in the Marvels though if one of the girls ends up having been a Skrull the whole movie.

I don't expect an actor to spend their entire career with Marvel. RDJ is in his 50's and with the Marvel money, can take any gig he wants, even on the cheap.
Evans, Hemsworth, Scarlett, Renner all can go onto to do different things.

Ruffalo, he's only been with Marvel since the first Avengers movie.

And Hemsworthy hasn't ruled doing another movie. He expects it would have a different tone though.
