The biggest difference for the Leafs this season is that FINALLY, all their big guns are actually showing up and making an impact, at the same time.

In previous years it’s been one of them playing well and the others struggling.

If you have players as good as Matthews, Nylander, Marner and even an older Tavares rolling, that’s a tough thing to contain.

The ESPN coverage has been brutal. I like PK but they are clearly trying to make the intermissions a ‘Biz Vibe’ and then the announcing.

Go from Doc and Edzo to Kenny Albert and Edzo with Jackie Redmond or Boucher. That’s good.

Then you get a game with Bucci (who is VERY animated doing the Frizen Four) and pair him with a monotone low volume half asleep unknown woman for color commentary on a 930pm est late game with Leah Hextall as the on the ice reporter.

Very very weak.

The crowd noise has been my biggest gripe with US based coverage. I don’t know why they have it turned down so much. The Canadian coverage is so much better and more fun to watch when you can hear how engaged the crowd is.

The playoff games seem flat out boring because of the muted crowd noise. The broadcast teams aren't usually helping liven things up either. Is it that hard to find great broadcasting crews?? Have we just been completely spoiled the last 30-40 years?

We were spoiled, to be honest. Doc was fantastic and nobody has come even close to replacing him. One of my favorite announcers in any sport of all time.

I have never been a fan of Pang or Ferraro. The entire ESPN broadcast is pretty much terrible, especially Buccigross who just screams for no reason all game.

Realizing that Eddie-O was ALSO my local team's broadcasting guy was such a cool thing at the time too. I like Kenny Albert currently. He's got the same voice as his dad who did all of those iconic basketball games. I used to go to my grandmother's house as a kid and watch those Bulls Championship VHS tapes over and over and over and over again so Albert will always be one of my favorites

Dear god, by the 3rd period of any game they were ****ing unlistenable together. I'm sure they both were having a ton of fun, but nobody forced to listen to that nonsense was.

It's trite and cliche, but the Canadian broadcasts really are better in most (but not all) cases. Listening to the Sportsnet call of Colorado/Dallas was like listening to Angels pouring honey into my ears compared to some of the schlock Americans have to put up with.

For how many shot attempts the Canes get off, they really are quite boring to watch.


And Washington is even more boring. They also should be embarrassed with the dives and embellishment they try. Pathetic.
