With pick 52, the Pittsburgh Pirates are happy to select, SS Johnny Pesky

played 10 years, '42-'54, missed 3 years due to military service.

The Pirates are happy to get such production from the SS position. Terrific offensive numbers for a SS, (except pop). He will make a terrific no. 2 hitter with his ability to make contact, and get on base. Very impressive season average of 84 walks, and ONLY 28 K's per 162.

.307/.394/.386

An average of 3 WAR per season, with 31.8 bWAR for his career

Lead the league in hits in his first 3 seasons with 205, 208, and 207.

SP Adam Wainwright

A steady ace in both the regular season and postseason, Wainwright was thrust into the closer role as a rookie in the 2006 postseason and didn't blink pitching 9.2 scoreless innings with four saves and a win, but became a reliable starting pitcher after that, finishing top three in the Cy Young voting four out of five seasons pitched between 2009-2014.

3B Al Rosen

200px-Al_Rosen_1953.jpg

Had a shorter career, in part because of injury at the back end and in part because he was kept in the minors a year or two longer than he should have been due to a popular incumbent third baseman for the Indians. When Rosen finally played everyday in 1950 he debuted with a bang, hitting .287-37-116. That was the first in a monster-five year stretch for Rosen, who peaked in his 1953 MVP season coming within a single hit of winning the Triple Crown (.336-43-145).

.285/.384/.495
137 OPS+
192 HR (avg. 30 per 162)
717 RBI (avg. 111 per 162)

played from '66 to '72, Criminally underrated in these drafts (basically Billy Williams with better defense) Reggie will be a welcome addition to the Pirates. A switch-hitter with power, yes please!
