Hip is not what you wanna hear.

I guess it depends on what the injury is. If it's a sprain/strain of the hip flexor caused by an impact that heals with time, it's probably not too concerning. Probably the same goes for a hip pointer.

If it's actually a tear of something (like the labrum), then you are right, that's a lot more concerning. My understanding is that eventually requires surgery.

Given his age, I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that it's not something due to over-use, like bursitis, tendonitis, etc...

Hopefully whatever ails him falls into the first category and not the 2nd or 3rd.

I doubt it's anything so bad that he won't be able to continue playing in the short term. And they happen to be well positioned if they think it's long-term to move on. Let's hope it's not that. I don't ever want to see him go through what Backstrom has gone through in the last couple of seasons. And I'd like him to be a big part of what we do for a long time.
