I went back—and you are correct there wasn't that much skepticism. Likely I am remembering making similar comments on CanesCountry. There were a number of others (somewhere I promise) who argued that Aho wasn't physically up to playing center, that his scoring would be significantly lower due to the new role, and, most ardently argued, that the Canes must go out and acquire a "real 1C" like Duchene or RNH.

Good thing I started this thread.
Well done, sir (maybe)! Even I find this pretty good outlet for "my" Aho highlights. No need to watch for older one or create a new thread (since Canes boards are not like Toronto's, no idea why....).

So it feels so natural to look for this thread and dump highlights here too. And get some love for it! Love it!

Though, I'd love some new highlights... stupid off season. At least Aho is ours for a while, others are just dying for their teams to sign them. Wouldn't want to be in that situation.

I think this one should be closed and everyone should have to post in the Aho draft thread, so their glowing compliments sit side by side with their shocked disbelief of drafting an undersized Finnish kid so early in the 2nd round.

Thankfully that senile Tony MacDonald retired.

All great plays but I cant believe they didnt include the shorthanded wraparound against the blues... the way he turned the jets on when he saw the goalie fumble was unreal he went from the blue line to behind the net like instantaneously
Yeah swap the two on one goal with that and the list is probably perfect.

And if we’re posting awesome Aho clips, the second one in this video is my favorite goal by Aho. Three Devils on him and he still puts it home.

Amazing that not a single player that I can see on the highlights, other than Aho, is still on the team. Not sure who the 2nd D was on the 2nd goal.

First goal: Aho, Lindholm, PDG, Murphy and Dahlbeck
2nd goal: Aho, Ryan, Stempniak, Hanifin,

NHL stars re-pick the top of the 2015 draft: ‘This draft...

Interesting comments by ROR about Aho from TheAthletic article having NHL stars re-pick the 2015 draft:

O’Reilly dipped into the 2015 second round to grab Aho, who currently has more points than just four players drafted in this draft. McDavid, Eichel, Marner and Rantanen are the only others drafted in 2015 to have more than Aho’s 197 career points. Only McDavid and Eichel have more than Aho’s 83 goals.

“He’s heavy on his stick,” O’Reilly said in explaining his pick of Aho. “His puck ability, what he can do with it is very impressive. Just competing with him, that’s something that jumped out to me. He’s strong. He’s strong on his skates … elite skill, obviously.”

Aho looks like Quicksilver from the recent X-Men movies:

He also looks like German Pessimist philosopher Philipp Mainlander, who believed that the universe was the rotting carcass of God and the only point of life was to die. Delightful!

Did God die in vacuum and expanded?
